Board of Regents approves $85,000 in grants

On Monday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents unanimously approved the accepting of grants from the Brumley Foundation and LINN Energy totaling $85,000.
From the Brumley Foundation, FPC received a grant in the amount of $45,000, with the funds designated to be used towards scholarships for low-income students who reside in the upper 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.
LINN Energy provided the college with a grant in the amount of $35,000 to be used for equipment for the Pump and Engine (P&E) and Instrumentation and Electrical Technology (I&E) programs.

Over the past couple of weeks, several local businesses have donated materials, equipment, and man power in order to put up the new scoreboard at Huber Park for the Borger High School Baseball program.
LINN Energy paid for the new scoreboard, Conner Industries welded on the frame to accommodate the new larger board. Fuzzy’s Radiator brought out the crane to take down the old and hang the new board. The City of Borger provided labor to help take the old scoreboard down and hang up the new one.

City of Borger to join PARIS system

The City of Borger is becoming part of a new public mass information system, better known as PARIS (Panhandle Area Regional Information System).
Borger City Manager Eddie Edwards said that for the past several years, panhandle emergency managers and the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC) have been working together in an effort to provide all jurisdictions in the region the ability to contact their residents quickly when disasters are imminent.
