When it comes to the Borger Police Department and other local agencies in the area, they rely heavily on the communications department to keep them informed.
The communications section of the BPD is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the 2010 annual report submitted to the City of Borger by the BPD.
The department provides radio and phone communications 911 assistance, pre-arrival medical help and dispatch services for all emergency services within Hutchinson County.

What if every morning after waking up, you had to inspect your body to make sure everything was properly working? What if you were forced to live with one of the most expensive diseases that would cost you close or well over $70,000 each year?
This is what a MS patient has to live through every day of their life. Because of these hurting people local citizens will be walking toward a world free of MS on Saturday, April 30, at Crockett Elementary School.

The Borger City Council will be acting on the re-plat of land for a new business seeking to come to the Borger area.
The action will be taken during the council’s regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in the city council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.
The recommendation, which was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission at a meeting held last Monday, would be to receive a re-plat of Lots 4-11, Block 24, Unit 4, Thompson Addition, containing 1.303 acres, to be known as 230 N. Cedar Street, and set a public hearing to allow public comment.
The Fritch Area Chamber of Commerce named its Man and Woman of the Year at its annual banquet held Saturday night at Sanford-Fritch Junior High School. Receiving the honors as Man of the Year was Carl (Gene) McCallie, and receiving Woman of the Year honors was Jeannie Olson.

Brandy Callahan is running for Borger City Council, Place Two.
She has lived in Borger her whole life except for a few years in college. She said she chose to stay in Borger for several reasons.
“First, all of my family lives here, second it’s a great place to raise my children and establish roots, and third, Borger is a community with a lot of wonderful people,” Callahan said. “It is a community with the most caring and giving people that I have ever met.”

Five arrests made by department over two-day period
The Borger Police Department continues an aggressive campaign against narcotic related offenses.
During a two-day period, officers of the BPD made five arrests for narcotic-related offenses, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the PD.
The American Red Cross of Borger will once again have another Murder Mystery Dinner as a fund raiser.
The theme of the dinner is “East Side Story: A 1950’s Murder Mystery,” which will be held at Dake’s on 718 N Main St. on April 9 at 6 p.m.
A longtime former Borger resident recently celebrated a special milestone in her life.
Blanche Miller celebrated her 100th birthday with a reception in the Park Place Towers Parlor in Amarillo on March 19, 2011. Her family was in attendance, and several longtime friends from Borger also attended. Miller is a current resident of the Park Place Towers.
Miller was born on March 22, 1911, in Braymer, Mo., to Florence and Walter Jenks. Her mother worked as a dress maker, and her father worked for a salt plant and also an ice plant. She has one younger sister Mildred.

Living Water Ministries is offering free prom dresses to any young ladies who are needing them for that special night.
Right now, they have about eight or nine dresses to choose from.
Becky Dietz, director of Living Water, said, “We are receiving and giving them away for free.”
She also said if citizens would like to donate a dress they can bring them to Living Water located on Fourth and Main. The dresses need to be brought in the door under the arch.
Again, this is open to anyone. Living Water is open Monday thru Thursday from 9am to 3pm, and is located at 335 North Main Street.
