Stinnett City Council meets Monday evening

December 21, 2011

Council members for the City of Stinnett met on Monday, Dec 19, 2011 around 6 p.m. in Stinnett City Hall at 609 Mackenzie, Stinnett.
The meeting begin with public comment from Ted Gaddis the about 4th street potholes and Farmer to McCormick maintenance issues.
Council members then reviewed monthly reports from maintenance, EMS, Fire Department, Police Department CDC, and the City Administrator.
After monthly reports, the council will called Dwight Brandt to speak about the storm sewer grant update from Brandt Engineers and allow for him to take bids.

City approves changes to alcoholic beverage laws

Changes have been made to the City of Borger’s alcoholic beverage laws.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Borger City Council approved an ordinance amending the City of Borger Code of Ordinance, Article 4.02, Alcoholic Beverages. The ordinance was introduced by the council at its last regular meeting earlier this month.
The change was prompted by a request from a new business coming to town. City Manager Eddie Edwards said CVS is building a new pharmacy at the intersection of Third and Cedar. It regularly sells beer and wine as part of its in-store inventory.

HCHM hosting Annual Christmas Exhibit

One Sixth Scale Military Action Figures, Historic and Contemporary Uniforms, Weapons and Other Models.
The Hutchinson County Museum’s Annual Christmas Exhibit will feature one sixth scale military action figures in period uniforms with weapons, and other scale models from the collection of Greg Thompson on display from December 5 – December 28, 2011.

Blood drive to be held in Stinnett Dec. 27

Looking to give blood to those who need it?
Coffee Memorial will host a blood drive in Stinnett on December 27, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center at 801 Main Street. All donors will receive a Coffee Memorial donation t-shirt. A photo ID or donor card is required and you must be at least 17- years old to be eligible to donate. All blood types are needed. Retirement resolution passed by HCHD board

The Hutchinson County Hospital District has passed a resolution in regards to the district retirement plan.
The resolution, passed by the board at its regular meeting last Monday evening, will terminate the 457b – HCHD Employee Retirement Plan and give employees access to an alternate program.
Dennis Jack, CEO of Golden Plains Community Hospital, said that when the district ran and operated the hospital, they had a retirement program that was allowed only for government entities.

Borger City Council to meet Tuesday

December 19, 2011

The Borger City Council will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the city council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.
Action will be taken on the final reading of Ordinance O-005-11, amending the City of Borger Code of Ordinance, Article 4.02, Alcoholic Beverages.
The council will also conduct a public hearing on a request from Jeff Whittington to rezone a 1.5 acre tract of land located in the SE/4 of Section 18, Block “Y” M&C Survey, from Single Family (IF-2) zoning district to General Residence (GR) zoning district, to be known as 100 Denton.

Auditions for Boomtown Theater

The Boomtown Theater is looking for more actors preferably over the age of 16. Rehearsals are flexible and no experience is needed.
This coming production will be a debut and duet.
Both directors will hold auditions on January 2, 2012.

BISD board approves policy update

December 19, 2011

The Borger ISD board approved a policy update during its regular meeting Thursday evening.
One of the policies, known as FO (Local), pertains to student discipline. Corporal punishment will not be used when a parent has submitted a signed statement to the principal prohibiting the use of corporal punishment. The parent can reinstate corporal punishment by submitting another signed statement at any time.
