LMAWM hosting annual summer educational program July 12-14

FRITCH—The Lake Meredith Aquatic & Wildlife Museum will host its Annual Summer Educational Program Tuesday-Thursday, July 12, 13 & 14th from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the museum under the water tower in Fritch.
This year students ages 4 and up will enjoy learning about mammals with a special guest ranger from Lake Meredith National Park Service.
Students will look at a variety of mammal skulls, pelts, foot prints and skat and participate in a variety of activities.
In addition, students will learn how to make potato jewelry and how to use natural resources as means of survival.

Countywide burn ban still in effect

Even with the disaster declaration running out and the recent rain that has come to Hutchinson County, a countywide burn ban is still in effect for now.
The ban, which was initially approved in January of this year and then extended in April, prohibits the burning of trash and any type of burning in open pits. It does not affect farmers who do agricultural burning, but does restrict other types of outdoor burning.
