A Borger man has been indicted for capital murder.
On Thursday, a Hutchinson County Grand Jury met to consider evidence in the April 20, 2011, slaying of Lois Kimbrell. Mrs. Kimbrell, 97, was found dead in her Borger home on the morning of April 21 by a Meals on Wheels volunteer. She suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force head trauma.
Rate schedules and tariffs proposed by the Texas Gas Service have received approval from the Borger City Council.
A resolution approving the schedules and tariffs was finalized by the council Tuesday. The resolution pertains to a limited rate filing that allows TGS to implement an increase in rates pursuant to the Cost of Gas Adjustment (COSA) clause that was previously approved in 2008.
The City of Fritch is making plans for a summer celebration!
KFDA News Channel 10, the local CBS affiliate, has selected Fritch as one of its stops on its “Summer Celebration Tour.” The city will be featured on Friday, July 22, the last day of its week-long tour of area towns.
The event will take place on Robey Street between the Lake Meredith Aquatic and Wildlife Museum and Fritch City Hall. Robey will be closed to traffic and booths will be placed up and down the block. Local churches, organizations, clubs, and businesses are invited to set up food and game booths for the celebration.
Participants in the Women’s Air Race Classic made a stop at the Hutchinson County Airport Wednesday evening. The women are traveling across the country in a race competing for competing for cash prizes and awards. Among those making the stop at the airport were, left, Barbara Harris-Para of Pinehurst, N.C.; and right, Sarah Morris and Leah Hetzel of Jacksonville, Fla. The race, which started in Iowa City, Iowa, will conclude in Mobile, Ala. this Friday. For more information and photos, see pg. 5 of today’s edition.
