The steel to be used for a monument in honor of the victims of Sept. 11, 2001 has officially arrived in Borger.
Yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m,. two large pieces of World Trade Center steel from Ground Zero arrived here in Borger, escorted by emergency vehicles.
The procession started at Rice Construction and then went down Cedar to Zachry Construction, where the monument will be made for the 9/11 memorial in Huber Park
The two pieces of steel for the memorial each measure 78â€ť X 34â€ť X 15â€ť and each weighs 1,290 pounds, according to Bob Tiffany of the 9/11 Memorial Committee.
For those wanting to get their kids signed up for the City of Borger Park Recreation Program, early sign-ups are being held the next two weekends.
Annadon Keys, Johnson Park Youth Center Supervisor, said signups will take place at the JPYC from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14, and Saturday, May 21. Parents can also get their children signed up at anytime during the week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
