Let the voting begin!
Early voting is set to start Monday, May 2, 2011, at Borger City Hall, for the Borger City Council and Borger Independent School District Board of Trustees.
The voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday, and these hours will run every day through Friday, May 6, 2011. Early voting will also take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 9-10.
The general election will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011. The polling places are as follows:
Precinct 11 â Borger Middle School, 1200 South Florida
Precincts 33 and 42 â Paul Belton Learning Center, 800 North McGee

A Borger native is currently taking a special bike ride to honor breast cancer patients, with one especially dear to her heart in mind: her mother.
With plans to ride and raise $100,000 to honor her mother Martha Vinyard, Michelle Cooper, former Miss Borger 1987 and professional skydiver turned cyclist is riding her bicycle from Phoenix, Ariz. To Borger. The ride began on April 27, and will conclude on May 8. Cooper is hoping to raise funds for breast cancer patients.

Borgerâs newest hotel is now officially open for business.
The new Hampton Inn of Borger officially opened on April 19 . It has been almost a year since Harish Patel began construction on the 64-room hotel. The hotel has such features as 32-inch LCD televisions as well as free high-speed internet access.
A âSuite Shopâ is available for late night snacks or goodies for the road, along with a fitness center for people wanting to get in a good workout.

With the Hutchinson County Health Fair quickly approaching, Coffee Memorial Blood Center plans to be present for an upcoming blood drive.
The CMBC will host the Hutchinson County and Frank Phillips College Blood Drive during the health fair, set to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Center for Access and Innovation Building at 901 Opal, Room 102.
All eligible donor who presents to donate will receive a âShare the Roadâ t-shirt and a chance to win a new bicycle.
A photo ID or donor card is required to donate.

The Hutchinson County Sheriffâs Office wants parents to do all they can to keep their children safe.
Throughout the years, there have been various cases of kidnapped children, such as Adam Walsh, Polly Klaas, Jonathan Foster, and others. When such a crime occurs, law enforcement needs as much information as possible, such as photos, descriptions, fingerprints, and DNA, if possible.
According to James Qualls of the Hutchinson County Sheriffâs Office, it is the desire of his agency and other law enforcement that such a crime does not happen again.

The current Subway location in Borger will be closing its doors this May.
The decision has been made to terminate the storeâs current leasing agreement and move it to a different location. Several locations are currently in the works, but a new location has not been selected, according to Frank and Sherry Wingate and Jeff and Rene Brain, operating partners of Subway.
The restaurantâs last day to serve customers will be May 13, and after that time it will be closed until a location is remodeled or built.

One of Borgerâs elementary school classes is celebrating a milestone, the publishing of a book!
Debbie Maxwellâs 2010- 2011 first grade class from Gateway Elementary School recently saw a book it put together published!

Borger firefighters are seeking more information on a fire that occurred this past Friday evening.
On The night of Friday, April 22, 2011, a fire was reported to Borger Fire department around 10 p.m.. The fire was located in a field between Arline and Elise street on the north side of town.
It was reported that neighbors saw kids playing with firecrackers and fled the scene before officials showed up.
A doctor from the Amarillo Heart Group was the special guest speaker for the Rotary Club meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Dr. Alan Chu of the Amarillo Heart Group shared about some of the work he does with the Amarillo Heart Group, along with some particulars about peripheral artery disease (PAD).

A suspect has been arrested for the homicide of a local citizen that took place last Thursday.
On Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at approximately 6 p.m., Borger police and Texas Rangers arrested 47-year-old Gregorio Felan for the murder of Lois Kimbrell. Felan, a nearby neighbor to the victim, was processed at the Borger Police Department on the charge of murder, which is a felony of the first degree.
