Saturday’s weather will be very complex as an upper-level storm system moves right on top of, or very near the region. We will begin the day with a mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow as temperatures below freezing occur.
As temperatures warm during the morning hours, we will see this mix changeover to scattered rain showers and even a possible thunderstorm. Another surge of Arctic air will blast into the region during the afternoon hours and quickly changeover the rain to snowfall.
December is one of the most colorful months of the year because of all the Christmas trees and lights in and around people’s homes.
But as pretty as they are, they all can cause an uncontrolled light most people don’t want to see: fire.
Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards said the live and dry pine trees can be a fire hazard if not handled properly.
Special fire safety precautions need to be taken when keeping a live tree in the house. A burning tree can rapidly fill a room with fire and deadly gases.
