Paul Belton school may see name change

Paul Belton Early Childhood Center may soon be seeing a name change.
Discussion was held on the matter during the regular meeting of the Borger ISD Board of Trustees Thursday evening. The proposed name change will be Paul Belton Elementary School.
BISD Superintendent Chance Welch said that PBECC principal Amy Blansett approached him about the possibility after getting input from some of her teachers.
Welch said the district does consider PBECC to be a rigorous academic elementary school.

Council approves account for 9/11 monument

The Borger City Council has taken action to establish an account for the 9/11 memorial to be constructed in Huber Park, which is still in the planning stages.
The council approved action to establish an account for the construction and perpetual care of the monument. Eddie Edwards, city manager, said Bob Tiffany, who is with the 9/11 memorial committee, has asked the city to establish an account to accept donations for the construction of the memorial.
Edwards said the city is certainly capable to track incoming money and pay any bills as needed from that account.
