Frank Phillips College Volleyball Coach Ashley Dyer added to the Lady Plainsman roster with the recent signing of Kayla Silva of Edinburg, Texas.
Ms. Silva is a 5' 8" Outside Hitter who played varsity volleyball for four years at Economedes High School, earning team MVP honors three of those years. She earned 1st Team All-District 31-5A for three years, and 2nd Team All-Valley honors two years. As a senior she won the E.H.S. Heisman Award as the school's outstanding athlete.
The City of Borger has entered into an agreement with CVS Caremark Corporation as it prepares to begin construction on a new pharmacy within the community.
The agreement, approved by the Borger City Council during a short special session Monday, pertains to access, a retaining wall, and a construction easement.
Under the terms of the agreement, CVS Caremark requested these things along the east and south sides of the property where the pharmacy will be built. The pharmacy will be located on Lots 4-11, Block 24, Unit 4, Thompson Addition (230 North Cedar).
Borger High School has named its top two graduates for the Class of 2011.
Madison Argo is the valedictorian with a GPA of 107.175 (4.0) and Joshua Madden is the salutatorian with a GPA of 106.471 (4.0).
While in high school, Argo was on the Varsity Track Team, served as Art Club President, was a member and officer of the National Honor Society, and served as FCA President. She also played club volleyball, varsity volleyball, and varsity basketball, and was named to the Golden Spread All Star Volleyball Team.
Summer time fun at Lake Meredith is about to begin and the upcoming Memorial Day is a good time to start!
Although Lake Meredith National Recreation area it is getting smaller, there is still plenty of things for visitors to do.
Visitors to the lake can enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, camping, picnicking, and a host of other outdoor activities.
For people who intend on fishing, it is reported that walleye are biting well, as are crappie and sand bass.
This weekend, members of the Borger Bulldog football team traveled south to take part in a 16 team 7-on-7 football tournament in Snyder.
In pool play, the Borger squad went 2-1, just missing out of reaching the tournament semi-finals. In the wins, Borger defeated San Angelo Grape Creek 26-6 and beat Roscoe 26-0 before losing to Lamesa 27-20
The Borger team plays in the Caprock 7 on 7 tournament later in June, and the 9th grade 7 on 7 will play in a tournament in Amarillo on June 17th.
The Borger Walmart will be hosting several events to raise money for the Childrenâ€™s Miracle Network.
The first one will be on June 5, 2011. The store will be holding a Coed Bowling Tournament at Wildcatters, located on 1501 Main St. The tournament will start at 3 p.m.

In February 2011, the Jerry C. Waggoner Medical Foundation Board of Directors hosted the First Annual 2011 Ungala as a means of raising funds for the Foundationâ€™s projects: the Free Emergency Dental Clinic and the Educational Scholarship Program.
The generosity of many donors brought in over $4,000.00 to the Waggoner Foundation. Some of the donors opted to purchase â€śrocksâ€ť and â€śleavesâ€ť to be placed on the Waggoner Foundation Tree of Life in the Golden Plains Community Hospital lobby in memory or in honor of loved ones or organizations.
The list of graduates for the Class of 2011 at Borger High School has been officially approved by the Borger ISD board of trustees.
The action took place at the boardâ€™s regular meeting last Tuesday. Graduates on the list for the Class of 2011 are as follows:

PLAINVIEW-On Saturday afternoon, a comeback just was not in the cards for the Borger Bulldogs in their 3A Regional Quarterfinal series with the Lubbock Cooper Pirates.
The Pirate hitters did a good job flexing their muscles by sending five balls over the fence to take game two and get the series sweep by a score of 11-0 at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.
