On Wednesday morning, the Borger Lady Bulldogs opened play in the Breckenridge Lionsâ€™ Club Christmas Tournament with a 50-31 loss to Breckenridge.
The two teams were tangled up in a close contest in the first half, with Breckenridge only holding a 15-12 lead at halftime.
However, Breckenridge took advantage of being on their home court in the second half by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 35-19 to pull away for the win.
Junior Emma Wood led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points followed by sophomore Nellie Embers chipping in eight points.

Kathryn Bergen, 81, of Crowley, TX, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2011.
Kathryn (Jackson) Bergen was born Saturday, June 7, 1930 in Stilwell, OK to Robert and Chloe (Ketcher) Jackson. She married Raymond Bergen on August 3, 1954 in Borger, TX. She was a mother and homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and several brothers and sisters.
The Borger Police Department is wanting to make local citizens aware of the adverse side effects of a prescription pain patch that has resulted in the death of a local citizen.
Lt. Anthony Griffin said that earlier this month, the department responded to the death of a 29-year-old male, who appeared to have been abusing the pain patch Fentanyl.
â€śIt appeared as though the man had been smoking portions of the medicated pain patch at the time of his death,â€ť he said. â€śThe man was found deceased in his home by a family member.â€ť
On Friday, January 20th the Borger Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs basketball teams will be hosting a â€śPink Outâ€ť for HOPE for Cancer Awareness during their doubleheader against Pampa.
Free t-shirts will be handed out at the door, while supplies last, and donations will be taken for HOPE for Cancer Awaremess.
During both games, sausage wraps will be served by the Borger Basketball Booster Club in the concession stand.
The girls game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. followed by the boys at 8:00 p.m.
Neil H. Borslien of Kyle, TX went to be with our Lord on December 25th, 2011.
Neil was born in Maxbass, ND, on 12/11/1929. He left school at the young age of 15, made his way to San Diego, CA where he joined the Navy, using his older brother Russellâ€™s ID.
Henry Alvin Brewer, 85, of Fritch, passed away, Sunday, December 25, 2011.
Henry Alvin Brewer was born Friday, September 3, 1926 in St. James, Mo to Pleas Franklin and Orilla (Foust) Brewer. He was a heavy equipment operator for E.D. Baker for many years. He married Emelyne Hormann Derr on December 23, 1994.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Juanita Brewer in 1992.
