Midland College tops Frank Phillips in five

On Saturday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen gave the Midland College Lady Chaparrals all they could handle in the five game match.
Unfortunately. the Lady Chaps left the BCAC giving the Lady Plainsmen their first loss at home this season winning 25-15, 19-25, 17-25, 25-22, 12-15.
The win keeps Midland College perfect in WJCAC play with a 6-0 record, while the Lady Plainsmen fall to 2-4 in WJCAC play and to 19-12 overall.
The Lady Plainsmen return to the court on Wednesday evening hosting NMMI beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Don’t mess with Texas! Borger Bulldogs overpower Vista Ridge 32-20

No disrespect to the rest of the nation, but the best high school football in the country is found in the great state of Texas.
On Friday night the Vista Ridge Wolves from Colorado Springs, Colo., came into their contest against the Borger Bulldogs with a lot of hype due to an undefeated 6-0 record and a number one ranking in 3A in the state of Colorado.
But from the opening kickoff to the final quarterback kneel down, the Bulldogs proved the top ranking in Colorado just is not that impressive in Texas, as the Bulldogs came away with the dominating homecoming win 32-20 at Bulldog Stadium.

Sanford-Fritch blanks Dimmitt, 49-0

The Sanford-Fritch Eagles walked out onto Eagle Field ready to play on Friday night in their District 1-2A Div II showdown against the Dimmitt Bobcats.
It didn’t take long for the Eagles to put numbers on the board. In the first quarter senior Tate Murray caught a six yd touchdown pass from quarterback Chris Bryan with 8:23 on the clock.

High School Bands compete in UIL Marching Contest on Saturday

This Saturday, the Borger High School and West Texas High School marching bands will take part in the UIL Region One Marching Contest at Dick Bivins Stadium in Amarillo.
The West Texas High Marching Band will compete in the marching contest first, taking the field at 2:00 p.m.
The 55-member Comanche Band will perform a show which features the music of Michael Jackson, including “Thriller,” “I'll Be There,” and “Billie Jean.”

City of Borger named the winner of a special award

The City of Borger was recently named the winner of a special award at the Texas Municipal League Annual Conference in Houston.
During the opening general session of the 2011 conference, which was held in Houston, the city was announced as the winner of the Public Safety category for cities under 25,000 for its “Public Safety Training Partnerships.”

Catherine D. Lawhon, known to her friends as “Tootie,” was a gift to all who knew her. She grew up in Borger and was a Borger Bulldog through and through. In fact, she and her daughters still belt out, “Are you READY? Well I guess. Borger Bulldogs! YES YES YES!”
Catherine was the daughter of Hudson Davis and Ruby Davis and proud to be in this Chevrolet family. She loved being raised in Borger, and the town has always been dear to her heart.

FPC Lady Plainsmen defeat Clarendon College in straight sets

After playing their first four WJCAC matches on the road, the Lady Plainsmen finally got to enjoy the luxury of the home crowd in their conference showing down with the Clarendon College Lady Bulldogs.
Going into Wednesday night, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen had yet to drop a match at home in the BCAC for the season.
Both FPC and Clarendon College entered the contest with identical 1-3 conference records.

Bulldogs host top ranked Colorado team for homecoming

One thing Borger Bulldog fans cannot deny is Borger Head Coach Rusty Purser knows how to put together a monster of a non-district schedule.
After playing two of the top 4A teams in West Texas in Canyon Randall and Amarillo Caprock, good teams in Bushland and Dumas, along with a game with perennial top 15 team in Class 3A in Monahans, the Bulldogs will finish non-district play by taking on the top ranked 3A team in the state of Colorado, the Vista Ridge Wolves.

Comanches travel to Canadian for district showdown

Over the past ten years, Canadian has been one of the toughest places in the state to get a win and a place that has been unkind to the West Texas High Comanches.
There is no question winning in Canadian is still going to be tough, but there is a feeling in Stinnett that the Comanches are good enough this season to go into the Eastern Texas Panhandle and come away with a big win over the Canadian Wildcats, putting themselves in one of the driver’s seats for one of the three District 1-1A Division I playoff spots and potentially a district title.
