Larry Andrew â€śAndyâ€ť Heidelberg II died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Borger.
Memorial services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Minton Memorial Chapel with Brett Gordon, youth minister at Faith Christian Fellowship officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
An attempt by three teenagers to outrun a state trooper early Sunday resulted in disastrous consequences.
Early Sunday morning around 2 a.m., three teenagers, Angel Jonathan Morales, 17, Francisco Calderon, Jr., 19, and Kevin Cardona. 17, led a state trooper on a highway pursuit.
According to Joe Medrano with the DPS office, the three were traveling on Phillips Road at an unsafe speed when the state trooper attempted to stop the vehicle.
The suspects fled, causing the vehicle to later spin out of control at the Phillips entrance.
Two Borger citizens were arrested on drug charges by the Borger Police Department Friday evening.
On Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at approximately 8:34 a.m., Borger police officers responded to the 700 block of McGee Street in reference to an individual that was not supposed to be on the premises.
Upon arriving, officers made contact with Devin Michael Witt, 32, and Carrie Leann Smith, 35, both of Borger. After investigating the incident, it was found that Smith was not supposed to be on the premises, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
On Saturday, Jan. 28, members of the Borger Middle School Honors Choir traveled to Tascosa High School in Amarillo to compete in the UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest. Congratulations to the following vocalists for receiving an excellent rating from their judge: Aiyanna Alvarado and Alexis Love. Congratulations to the following vocalists for being awarded a superior rating, earning them a medal: Rose Bennett, Jaiton Hernandez, Jessica Hiberd, Claire Huffine, Haley Marchman, Bethany Mikles, Laura Putts, Hannah Sharp, Haley Vinyard, and Paige Young.
After trailing by 19 points with eight minutes to go, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen put together a couple of late runs to get to within ten with three minutes remaining. Unfortunately, a comeback wasnâ€™t meant to be as the Howard College Red Hawks did a good job at the free throw line in the final minute to hang on for a 68-55 win in WJCAC action.
The Red Hawks appeared to be on the verge of taking control of the game early by building a 17-28 lead with just over three minutes to go in the first half.
After playing to a 30-30 tie at halftime, the Howard College Lady Red Hawks used a 17-2 run to start the second half to defeat the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen 65-49 in WJCAC action.
The Lady Plainsmen were deadly from behind the three point line in the first half, nailing six three pointers. But in the second half, the outside shots cooled off for Frank Phillips, while the Lady Hawks took advantage of second change scoring opportunities of off offensive rebounds to start pulling away for the win.
On Friday. the Borger Varsity Tennis Team competed in Amarillo in the Palo Duro Tournament against most of the 4A teams in the region and held their own really well.
Winning the consolation brackets were: Alix Whitworth and Abbie Madden in Mixed Doubles, and Ariel Sanders in Girls Singles.
In the girls doubles the team of Lindsey Murley and Casandra Fonseca won their bracket.
In mixed doubles, the team of Britt Snipes and Jared Anderson won their first and second round matches before losing in the semi-finals to the tournament champion team from Randall High School.

The Knights of Columbus 3558 will be hosting their 4th Annual Fish Fry on February 24th.

On Friday, Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen Head Volleyball Coach Ashley Dyer signed Dumas outside hitter Allison Kiewiet at the BCAC.
Kiewiet was a four-year letterman for a successful Dumas volleyball team, averaging 17 kills and four blocks per match.
On Saturday, the District 5 wrestling meet was held at Tex Hanna Gym here in Borger.
Over the past several years, Dumas has established themselves as the team to beat for the district title, and that was the case again, as the Demons won the tournament with 156 points.
The young Borger wrestling team finished the tournament in sixth place.
Junior Dustin Tucker earned a trip to the regional meet by fnishing the tournament in second place in the 220 weight class, falling to Sergio Perez of Dumas 7-3 in the championship match.
