November 15, 2011

The Borger ISD board of trustees accepted a resignation from a longtime board member and is setting procedures in place for a replacement.
During its regular meeting Thursday evening, the board voted to accept, with regret, the resignation of Johnny Rusten, who has served on the board since 1998, most recently as president. Rusten submitted his resignation citing work, family, and church priorities.
Robert Bradley, who was elected the new president of the board, said Rusten’s presence would be missed.

Bulldogs vs Pirates should be a hard fought Bi-District contest

November 10, 2011

One of the best Bi-District playoff match ups in West Texas this weekend appears to be the 3A Division I battle between the Borger Bulldogs and the Lubbock Cooper Pirates.
The two teams enter the game in similar fashion. Both struggled a little in non-district play, yet were able to rebound and go undefeated in winning district championships.
The Pirates enter the playoffs coming off a big 20-14 win over a good Lubbock Estacado team in the regular season finale.

Battle of the Tribes: West Texas High and Quanah meet in Bi-District rematch

November 10, 2011

On Friday night, the West Texas High Comanches will square off against the Quanah Indians in the 1A Division I Bi-District round in Pampa.
Last year, the two teams met in the same round in Amarillo with Quanah pulling away late to get the win over the Comanches.
On paper, the match up between the Comanches and Indians appears to be a showcase of a contrast of styles. The Comanches have relied on their ground game all season to control the clock and wear down opponents, while the Indians will bring in a more balanced attack that has the ability to move the ball in the air.

Freshman Tiffanie Prater led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with nine points, followed by Vanessa Jones with six points.
