Borger â€“ Kenneth Leon Shira, 74, died Monday, April 9, 2012.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at First Church of the Nazarene in Borger, with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Tx are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Shira worked for many years at Pioneer Natural Gas as an operator.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue; two sons, Brent Lee Shira of Panhandle and Bobby Lynn Shira of Ft. Worth; one sister Betty Ellen Lee of Andrews; and 3 Grandchildren.
The recently dismissed Fritch Chief of Police has yet to issue a statement pertaining to his Monday dismissal.
Kirk Coker, who was dismissed from the position on Monday, told the Borger News-Herald that he has to consult with his attorney before making any type of statement.
He promised to keep the BNH updated with any possible news.

Crime Stoppers and the Borger Police Department are seeking assistance in reference to copper wire thefts that occurred inside the City of Borger.
On Monday, March 19, 2012, officers from Borger PD responded to a burglary in the 300 block of East Tenth Street.
During this burglary, the suspect (s) took several types of copper wiring from the location. The suspect (s) also caused damage to the location while taking the copper wiring.
On Tuesday morning, Sanford-Fritch Hugh School senior Jacy Judd signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen for the 2012-13 season. As the Lady Eagles point guard, Judd played a key role in helping the Lady Eagles earn a playoff berth this season. Judd has also been apart of the Lady Eagles volleyball and track teams. Over the years Mike Hargrove Field in Perryton has been a tough place for the Borger Bulldog Varsity Baseball team. But after run ruling the Perryton Rangers in their first District 1-3A meeting on March 31st, the Bulldogs entered Tuesdayâ€™s contest in Perryton with feeling confident about getting a win and putting their woes in Perryton behind them.
Unfortunately, the Rangers home field once again proved to be hard place for the Bulldogs to leave with a win, as Perryton pulled away for the 10-0 win in five innings.
On Monday, the Borger High School Girls A team took second place in the District 1-3A Golf Tournament in Dumas. The second place finish qualifies the team for the 3A Region I Golf Tournament to be held on April 16th and 17th.
After shooting a first round score of 400 on April 2nd, the Borger A team looked a lot better in the second round posting a 392 for a tournament total of 792 to finish behind Pampa who had a team score of 763.
Dominating!! That is the word that can best describe the performance by the Borger High School Boys Golf program through both rounds of the District 1-3A Tournament in Dumas.
On Monday, the Borger Boys made school history by having the Borger A and Borger B teams finish the tournament in first and second place and seeing both teams qualify for the 3A Region I Golf Tournament next week.
The Borger A team won the tournament by shooting a two round score of 304-305-609 to win the district tournament by 76 strokes.
AEV 18 Borger Boom finished the 2012 season by winning the Division II Silver Bracket on April 7th at the AEV Classic, held at the Courts of Amarillo.

The Hutchinson County Republican Party has announced its plan for a 2012 county/district convention.
