With a deadline set for demolition of the old hospital building, workers are busily doing all they can to meet that deadline.
At the regular meeting of the Hutchinson County Hospital District Board of Directors on Monday evening, Golden Plains Community Hospital CEO Dennis Jack said a deadline of April 15 has been set to finish the demolition process.
â€śItâ€™s supposed to be done. I donâ€™t think thatâ€™s going to happen, but they have got a lot more trucks there this week and are starting to rip it out, so weâ€™ll see,â€ť he said.
The Borger City Council received four requests pertaining to zoning issues for consideration during its regular meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The requests for zoning were as follows:
â€˘Arvind Patel, specific use permit for the placement of a manufactured home to be located at 1415 West Wilson Street (rear).
â€˘Matt Armstrong, request to re-zone Lots 17-27, Block 5, Original Townsite, from a retail zoning district to a commercial zoning district to be known as 900 North Main.
Due to much needed rain on Tuesday afternoon, the Pampa vs Borger baseball and softball games have been rescheduled for Wednesday.
The Pampa Harvesters vs Borger Bulldogs baseball game will start at 4:30 p.m. at Huber Park and the Pampa Lady Harvesters vs Borger Lady Bulldogs varsity softball game will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Agnes Howe Park.
The junior varsity softball game will be played after the varsity game at around 6:30 p.m.
Leon Grist, 87, of Borger, passed away, Saturday, March 31, 2012.
Leon Grist was born Wednesday, January 21, 1925 in Paris, AR to Aron and Theora Elizabeth (Ezell) Grist. He was a Chief A engine mechanic for Skelly-Watkins Gasoline plant at Spring Creek for 35 years. Mr. Grist married Lennis Boren on Dec. 24, 1947, in Pampa, TX.
The Crime Stoppers and Borger Police Department are needing the help of the public in locating a fugitive.
On the evening of Wednesday, March 28, 2012, a City of Borger police officer attempted to stop a red Ford Expedition. This was due to the vehicle disregarding a red stop signal at the intersection of Third Street and Main Street, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
As the officer tried to stop the vehicle for the traffic violation, the driver of the vehicle would not stop.
Fritch residents have become concerned that Monte Leggett of Fritch has taken the place of Police Chief Kirk Coker.
Reassuring the community, Fritch City Manager Bobby Lamb stated, â€śChief Coker is still the chief.â€ť
According to Leggett, things are still the same at Fritch Police Department.
Lamb announced Kirk Coker as the Chief of Police for the City of Fritch in 2011.
Coker has been with the Fritch Police Department since August 22, 2011.
After the first round of play in the District 1-3A Golf Tournament in Dumas, the Borger Boys Golf teams are dominating the field by sitting in first and second place.
The Borger A team took control of the tournamentby shooting a team score of 304 to take a 35 stroke lead after the first round of play.
Dylan Coffer led the Borger A team by shooting a 74, the top first round score of the tournament.
Billy Haynes and Tyler Sosebee are tied for second place with a 76, followed by Taylor Blewett in fourth place with a 78. Devin Witt shot an 85 to round out the Borger A team scores.
WOLFORTH-On Monday afternoon, the Brownwood Lady Lions scored three goals in a 10-minute span, in the second half, to pull away for the 4-0 win over the Borger Lady Bulldogs in the 4A Area Round playoffs at Frenship High School.
Due to a strong wind from the south, each team enjoyed having an extra teammate in Mother Nature for a half of play. Unfortunately, the Lady Lions would be the team taking advantage of the wind, by scoring three goals and being able to keep the ball on one side of the field for the majority of the second half.
