On Tuesday afternoon, Amarillo Tascosa Rebels sophomore pitcher Tucker Davidson showed why he is an athlete to watch in the Texas Panhandle by getting the complete game win on the pitcherâ€™s mound over the Borger Bulldogs 11-1.
The lefty struck out 13 Bulldog batters in five innings of work and only gave up three hits.
The Rebels got on the scoreboard early scoring five runs in the top of the first inning off a infield single and a grand slam.
Three separate fires broke out Tuesday along Highway 136 near Westlawn Cemetery.
Around 2:45 p.m., three fires created huge chaos. Immediately Mutual aid was called. Working the fires were Borger, Fritch, Hutchinson County, Big Creek, National Park Service, Skellytown, Stinnett, and Crutch Ranch Fire Departments. Also on the scene was Red Cross, Sheriffs Department, DPS, and the Fritch and Borger Police Departments.
Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards said, â€śThe winds were increasing and with the humidity levels so low, the fire became an extreme danger.â€ť
On Monday evening, the West Texas High Comanches gave up just one hit in their non-district contest with the Clarendon Broncos.
Despite the good pitching effort, the Comanches still found themselves in the losing column 2-1. due to a couple of costly errors.
Jess Shields got the start on the pitcherâ€™s mound for the Comanches. The senior did a good job not giving up an earned run, while allowing just one hit and striking out three Bronco batters.
Chase Elliott put the Comanches on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning on a RBI double.
On Monday evening, the Borger Lady Bulldogs played to a 2-2 tie with the Amarillo Caprock Lady Longhorns in Amarillo.
Sammi Huckabee and Hannah Kaplan scored the two Lady Bulldog goals and Huckabee and Cheyenne Young each had an assist.
The tie moves the Lady Bulldogs to 2-3-5 in District 5-4A play, where they currently hold a half point lead over Pampa for fourth place with two games to go. The Lady Harvesters defeated Dumas on Monday evening.
In the boys' game, the Caprock Longhorns defeated the Borger Bulldogs 2-0.

The Texas Department of Transportation is preparing to make repairs on the Rock Creek Bridge.
Paul Braun of TXDOT said work will begin Wednesday at the Rock Creek Bridge on SH 136 near Borger.
Repairs to the bridge piers should be completed by the end of the day next Monday, March 12, weather permitting.
One-lane traffic in each direction over the bridge will remain in place until repairs are complete. Braun said drivers need to exercise caution when traveling through the area.
â€śMotorists are asked to travel with care when driving through the work zone,â€ť he said.
The Fritch Area Chamber of Commerce is prepping for its annual banquet.
The banquet will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Sanford-Fritch Junior High School cafeteria on Eagle Boulevard.
Tickets for the event are $11 for adults and $6 for kids and under. Tio Panchos of Fritch will be catering the banquet and the menu will include chicken and beef fajitas and all the trimmings, along with a drink and dessert.
On Friday and Saturday, golfers from 13 different schools took part in the Borger Boys Invitational Golf Tournament at the Phillips Golf Course and Borger Country Club.
In a pool of several 4A and 5A schools, the Borger A team made an impressive showing by finishing in third place overall with a team score of 619. Tyler Sosebee led the Borger A team shooting a 77-70-147
The Amarillo High A team took first place shooting 583, led by Hogan Hudgins who took first place overall in the tournament shooting a 69-70-139.
Borger â€“ Eulis Carlee Denton, 86, died Saturday March 3 in Amarillo. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
