Wendy Davis, State Senator and Greg Abbot’s opponent for the office of Texas Governor in the 2014 election, stopped by Fernando’s Mexican Restaurant in Amarillo Friday evening to meet and speak to supporters about her plans for the state and her Texas Panhandle roots.

Local bars win right to stay open until 2 a.m.

On March 18th, the Borger City Council voted unanimously in favor of allowing local bars to stay open until 2 a.m.. Now, the first of those establishments are beginning to put this new ruling into action. 

Borger to receive temporary water “safety net” from Amarillo

The Amarillo City Council approved a proposal at their meeting Tuesday evening to allow the City of Borger to purchase a portion of the water it is allotted daily by the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority.

     Eldon Graham, 76 of Borger passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 in Borger. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Fritch Church of Christ with Mr. Richard Kasko of Fritch Church of Christ and Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell funeral Directors of Borger.

The Hutchinson County Friends of the Library will be holding the Spring Book Sale April 10-12 at the Borger Library.

Grease Fire at Sutphens

Residents of Borger may have noticed some smoke and the Borger Fire Department at Suphens earlier. Accourding to the Fire Marchell the smoker got too hot and grease caught on fire. There was no internal damage.

Phillips 66 faces fines, forfeitures over Clean Air Act violations

     Phillips 66, the Houston-based company that owns and operates the Borger Refinery, has entered an agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency to pay $500,000 and forfeit billions of sulphur credits for violating the Clean Air Act, according to a press release issued by the EPA.
