Herschel Bryan Moffitt

Herschel Bryan Moffitt, 47, passed away
Wednesday, January 1, 2014.
Mr. Moffitt will lie in state at Minton Chatwell Funeral
Directors of Borger starting at noon on Sunday, January 5,
2014. Family will receive guests from 5-7 pm Monday at the
funeral home.
A funeral service will be held in Arkansas.
Herschel was born February 23, 1966 in Borger. He proudly
served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of
Phillips High School in 1985.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, B.W. Ralls,
Hubert Howard, Willard Moffitt; and grandmother, Alva Faye
Moffitt.

Michael Wayne Dudley

Michael Wayne Dudley, 56, passed away
Friday, December 27, 2013
Following Michael’s wishes there will be no services.
Since Michael had a love for animals his memory may be
honored with a gift to the local SPCA. He loved motorcycles.
He taught many young people how to ride, and about the dangers
involved. He instructed them in safety. He drove a truck
and did mechanic work. He did much for many people. He
will be dearly missed.
He was born August 21, 1957 in Lovell, Wyoming to Everett

Georgie Lee Gillman

Georgie Lee Gillman, 89 died, Wednesday,
January 1, in Amarillo. Graveside Services will be at 10:30
a.m. at Highland Park Cemetery, in Borger, followed by a Memorial
Service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at the Westcliff
Bible Church, in Amarillo with Rev. Ken Sheppard of Dallas,
and Dr. Stephen Waterhouse officiating. Arrangements
are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Georgie was born on March 4, 1924, in Hedley, TX, to
Sam and Alma Line. She married Johnny Gillman on July
25, 1943. Georgie was a resident of Borger from 1943 until

Brendan Kai Moffitt held for 1st degree murder in father's homicide

January 3, 2014

Brenden Kai Moffitt, 23, has been charged with 1st degree murder for the New Year's Day slaying of his father, Herschel Bryan Moffitt, who died from multiple fatal gunshot wounds, according to a Lt. Jeremy Hundley from the Borger Police Department.

Alta Ruth Sibley Sebastian, 90, passed
away Wednesday, January 1, 2014.
Graveside service will be 2 pm Saturday, January 4, 2014
at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton
Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Alta was born October 15, 1923 in Oklahoma to F.G. and
Ivy Morrow. She was a member Monroe Street Church of
Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jake
Sebastian, J.L. Sibley; daughter, Iva Ruth Sibley; son, Jimmie
Sibley; brother, Jimmie Frank Morrow; sisters, Flossie, Faye,
Dessie, Lois, and Lola.

Margaret Tignor Robbins Rector, 92,
of Amarillo, TX, died Sunday, Nov 24, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 10 AM, Saturday, Jan. 4,
2014, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by
Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.,
Amarillo, TX.
Margaret was born Jan.1, 1921, to an early pioneer Panhandle
family. She had one sister, Beryl Carss. She graduated
from Pampa High School and graduated from the University
of Texas with a BA degree in 1941. After moving back to
Pampa, she married Ray Robbins, who was the Pampa High

UPDATE: Man arrested in New Year's homicide

January 2, 2014

A dispute between a father and son turned deadly Wednesday evening, ending with a 23-year old Borger man being taken in to custody on homicide charges.

DEVELOPING STORY: Possible shooting on Nelson

January 1, 2014

Police and emergency crews are on scene on the 900 block of Nelson street in Borger in response to a possible shooting. Intersections on both ends of the street (Sterling and Johnson intersections) are currently blocked by emergency crews, and the street is inaccessible, even to residents. Borger News Herald is also on the scene, and will be updating as we know more.

UPDATE 7:51 p.m. - Residents are now being allowed onto the street.

UPDATE 10:04 p.m. - We're still on scene waiting for an official to come give us a statement. More information as it becomes available.
