The 2014 Hutchinson County Livestock Show will start Friday January 24 at the Aluminum Dome.
Vicki L. Baker, 65, of Weatherford, TX, passed
away, Sunday, January 19, 2014 in Fort Worth, TX.
Vicki L. Baker was born February 23, 1948 in Borger to
Kenneth and Juanita (Knight) Bell. She was retired from the
Federal Government in the Criminal Justice Department.
Mrs. Baker is preceded in death by her father Kenneth
Survivors include a son David Aaron and wife Chesley
Baker of Fayetteville, NC, daughter Amy Lynn and husband
Christopher Bonnett of Weatherford, TX, mother Juanita Bell
of Midland, brother Ken R. and wife Becky Bell of Amarillo,
Gayle Wright, 76, of Stinnett, was welcomed
home by the Lord on Monday, January 20, 2014. Gayle was
born August 15, 1937 in Amarillo, TX. She married Clarence
Wright in 1963 and he preceded her in death in 2008.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the First United
Methodist Church of Stinnett with Rev.Rhonda Greenwood,
of Merkel, TX, and Rev. Donald Ward officiating. Burial will
follow in the Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton
Chatwell Funeral Home.
Gayle was a lifetime Hutchinson County resident where
she was a charter member of the First United Methodist
Our Mom, Frances Lavon (Pat) Cade,
took her journey home on January 16, 2014, just shy of her
95th birthday. She was born to William Arthur and Mary Margaret
(McLemore) Clark on March 25, 1919 in Frisco, Indiana.
She was married to Robert A. Cade.
Her final home was at Heritage Skilled Nursing Rehab
facility in Amarillo. Her family would like to thank the special,
loving staff that treated her with such respect and love
throughout her stay. The kindness the staff gave freely to her
family during Momâ€™s final days will always be remembered.
Edward Philip Engel, 86 of Tyler, Texas,
passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 in Tyler. Services
will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, at the Bunavista
Baptist Church, in Borger. Rev. David Langen will officiate
with Brian Poisson assisting. Interment will be at Westlawn
Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral
Directors of Borger.
Mr. Engel was born in Clarendon, Texas to Philip and Annie
Mary Engel on January 20, 1927. He proudly served his
country in the United States Navy where he was ranked as
Mattie Cox, 83, of Borger passed away on Wednesday,
January 15, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be 3:00 p.m.,
Saturday, January 18, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Borger,
with Dr. Jeff Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn
Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell
Mattie was born on December 26, 1930, in Sentinel, Oklahoma
to Joseph and Mattie Bell Reed Trammell. She lived in
the Borger since 1948 where she was a member of the Calvary
Baptist Church. Mattie married Floyd Harold Cox on August
Senator Kel Seliger came to support the Borger bulldogs Friday night. He watched the basketball team defeat River road. Here he is with the the varsity cheerleaders.

Doris Modean (Moo Moo) Ferguson, 90, of Urband, Mo. passed away Wednesday, January 15,
Doris was born August 3, 1924 in Quanah TX .to James
Walters and Verdie Mavous (McNutt) Landers.
Mrs. Ferguson was president of Welcome Wagon, Secretary
of Welcome Wagon in Holbrook Arizona ,bowling
president in Holbrook, bowled on the housewife league on
Wednesday mornings in Borger Texas. Bowled in Page, Arizona,
and bowled in Holbrook, Arizona.
She married Willie Ferguson August 6,1938 in Quanna,
TX. Mrs. Ferguson is preceded in death by her parents,
Two local residents are in police custody after a robbery at a local convenience store.
Just before 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning, at least one armed person entered CEFCOâ€™s 205 N. Cedar location where employee Brandie Ynojosa and Assistant Manager Jeremy Lynch were working, said employees at the CEFCO store.
The assailants demanded money and the employees complied. The robber(s) left with no injuries occurring.
The Borger Police Department said in a press release that officers were able to gather evidence that led them to suspects at 1000 block of Thrams.
