Teenage girl vanishes in Borger

Fifteen year old Melissa Graves has been missing since late Monday night.
The Borger High School sophomore is thought to have left her house sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Melissa is around 5'2" tall and weighs 97 lbs. She has long light-brown hair with blonde tips.
Her bottom lip is pierced in a "snakebite" fashion, where there are two piercings: one of each side about halfway between the center of the bottom lip and the corners of the mouth. She has double piercings in her ears and her navel is also pierced.

Sue Walker

Sue Walker,, 65, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Church under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Sue was born January 20, 1948 in Paducah to Raymond and Betty Gentry. She married Roger Walker on July 10, 1970 in Ayer, Massachusetts. She was an active member of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church.

Felipe "El Chitona" Sotelo Reyes

Felipe “ El Chitona” Sotelo Reyes, 57, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013.
Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, November 15, 2013 in Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The rosary will be recited Thursday, November 14, 2013 beginning at 5:30 pm at the funeral home.
Felipe was born August 14, 1956 in Castolon, Texas to Luis and Maxima Reyes. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Three dead in plane crash near Amarillo

A plane crash east of Amarillo resulted in three deaths early Monday morning.
According to Sr. Trooper Chris Ray of the Department of Public Safety, at around 2:00am the DPS received a report of a missing aircraft, a single-engine 1999 Raytheon B36TC.

The aircraft had been en route to Tradewind Airport in Amarillo when it was rerouted to Rick Husband, which it overflew. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane as it came around for a second landing attempt and a search for the aircraft began.

Bobby Lee “ Bob “ McDonald, 80, died Saturday November 9th in Borger. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday November 12th at Riverview Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Gillmore officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Bob was born September 21, 1933 in Borger to Raymond and Geneva Williams McDonald. He married Ina Addington March 17, 1951 in Borger. He and his wife started B and L Body Shop in 1965. He loved to fish at Cobb Lake in Oklahoma, golf and woodworking. He loved to make guitars.

Richard Wayne “Dickie” Wallace

Richard Wayne “Dickie” Wallace, 80, of Lubbock died Friday, November 8, in his home. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger with Rev. Earl Skaggs officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Richard (Dickie) Wayne Wallace was born on June 13, 1933 in Boulder, Colorado to Durland Robert Wallace and Geraldine Bernice Cleveland Wallace. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo since 2004. He was also a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Borger, Texas.

Former city worker indicted after brutal assault on Borger official

A Hutchinson County Grand Jury handed down an indictment last week on Brian Lee Garton of Fritch for an assault that occurred over the summer in Borger.
As stated in recently unsealed documents, Garton faces a 2nd degree felony charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury for an incident in July that sent City of Borger Director of Public Works Ted B. Dodd to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo in a coma.

Oil Rig Explosion North of Stinnett

Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards has informed the Borger News-Herald that fire crews are en route to an explosion and fire on an oil rig north of Stinnett on the Turkey Track Ranch.

A grass fire has broken out and one vehicle is in flames. As of 4:15 fire crews were a quarter mile from the blaze.

The well has been capped and the remaining flames are consuming two oil field vehicles and grass in the area. First report is that there have been no injuries. Crews remain on site to deal with remaining fires.
