The City of Stinnett is facing new changes.
At last weekâ€™s city council meeting, Police Chief Marie Farbro was released from duty during an open session. She was released for â€śwork performance issues.â€ť
Farbro has been part of the Stinnett Police since 2007 and police chief for almost two years. City Manager Mark Anderson has stepped up to fill this position until a new chief has been found.
Another change the city has seen is the resignation of Matt Daffer, Public Works Director. Daffer was Public Works Director for a year.
Colder air will move from the northeast toward the southwest on Thursday dropping high temperatures for the majority of the High Plains closer to the 30-year average high this time of the year (51 degrees) by late day. The wind will blow from the northeast at speeds averaging 5-15 mph during the morning before shifting to the south in the afternoon at the same average speeds. Skies will be partly to occasionally mostly cloudy on Thursday.
PAMPA - Felipe De Jesus Perez, 58, died January 22, 2013 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 25, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Diana Teeter Leatherman, 62, of Sanford, Texas died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.
Private services will be held out-of-state.
Lesa â€śMcKenzieâ€ť Murphy signed her letter of intent on Monday on the FPC campus.
She will graduate from Pearland High School in Pearland, TX this spring. She is a second baseman and an outfielder who plays for her high school and a travel team, the Texas Evolution.
â€śI believe that 'Murph' will bring a good presence to the team. She is a left handed hitter who handles the bat well and should add some speed and defensive depth to our team next year,â€ť says head coach, Lucas Grider.
Two other players have committed, but cannot make it to the campus for their signings.
On Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, the concession stand will open at the dome at 8 a.m.
The opening flag ceremony will be at 8:45 a.m. and the goat show will follow at 9 a.m. immediately followed by the lamb show.
The steer show will take place at 11 a.m.
Steer pictures will be taken after the steer show.
The presentation of Hustler Buckles will take place, and the swine show will take place at 1 p.m.
Following the swine show will be the retiring of the flag, and the concession stand will close at 10 p.m. that evening.
Weâ€™ll get a little taste of spring today with temperatures climbing to around 70Â°! Not only will it be mild, it will also be supremely sunny with only a light west to southwest wind blowing between 5 and 15 mph! Hopefully you can spare a few moments to step outside and enjoy the weather today!
It is against the law to sell or give away animals on public property.
According to Animal Control supervisor Betsy Parks citizens cannot sell animals or even give them away on public priorities such as street corners, off of right-of-ways, school properties, parking lots (this included Wal-Mart parking lot) etc.

Memorial services will be at 2:00PM, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger, TX with Bruce Ridling officiating.
Cremation was entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors.
Tobin Brent Wynn, 40 of Borger, died Saturday January 19, in Borger. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 am at Minton Memorial Chapel with Jenny Wynn officiating.
Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
