Gary Fletcher, Wal-Mart Manager, has said the land west of the hospital is now owned by Wal-Mart, and the deal was finalized about a month ago. The land is a total of 17 acres. He also said the most current groundbreaking date he has for the new store is November of this year. He said this date has been moved twice since he moved to Borger. It will take around nine months from the time of groundbreaking to get the store built and ready for customers.
Watch for more details on the new store and current happenings at Wal-Mart in Wednesday's edition of the Borger News-Herald.

There was a little excitement at Lowe’s Supermarket in Fritch on Monday afternoon.
Around 11:45 a.m. or so, a older gentleman, who was unidentified, was driving up to Lowe’s when according to store manager Kevin Keener, his foot came off his brake and hit the gas.
Half of the car ended up inside the store. Keener said that nobody was hurt in the incident, but it did leave a mess.
The car took out 12 feet of brick and four glass windows that were around eight feet tall and four feet wide.

The Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office wants to make local citizens aware of two different scams that could affect them in more ways than one.
Sheriff Don Johnson said one of these scams is an extortion technique being used by cyber criminals using the Citadel malware platform to deliver Reveton ransomware. The latest version of this ransomware uses the name of the Internet Crime Complaint Center as a means to frighten potential victims.

It will be MUCH colder on Tuesday than it was on Monday with high temperatures only warming into the mid 40s to the lower 50s by late day. Granted, that's roughly about what you would normally expect for high temps for this time of the year (52 is the 30-year average high temperature for Tuesday), but compared to the 60s and 70s we've seen lately, Tuesday is going to feel MUCH colder! Winds will be breezy as they blow from the west during the morning, then the north during the afternoon at speeds averaging 15-25 mph with some gusts upwards of 35-40 mph possible.
