The Borger Police Department responded to an incident at 6th and Florida late Sunday afternoon. The Borger News-Herald attempted to make calls for information but was unsuccessful. The BNH will continue to follow this story and will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.

It won’t be quite as warm this weekend as it was on Friday, but it still won’t be too bad! Highs will be in the lower 60s both Saturday and Sunday. There will be an increase in cloud cover late Saturday afternoon, but that cloud cover will depart by Sunday afternoon. We’ll have generally north winds all day Saturday and part of Sunday before they shift to the south Sunday afternoon.
AMARILLO, Texas – Xcel Energy’s Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS) is seeking proposals for additional wind energy resources as a component of its resource planning process.
Through this solicitation, SPS is requesting proposals for wind generation resources that could begin delivery to SPS on or after January 1, 2014 (but no later than December 31, 2015) and that would be contracted through a power purchase agreement.
The complete bid package will be available on Monday, March 18 at www.xcelenergy.com. Bids will be accepted until 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, April 12.

Mrs. Minnie Ernesteen Gee Orr was born in a half dugout near Gould, OK. September 2, 1920 to Ernest Fain Gee and Gusta Clyde (Lowe) Gee who preceded her in death.
She went to the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on March 8, 2013.
She had three brothers: Johnny Jewel Gee, Henry Price Gee, and Emory Fain Gee who preceded her in death.
She cherished her family and they did her. She had one older sister, Kathryn Gee Peden who passed away.
Two younger sisters survived: Gracie Gee Sain Haddox of Amarillo and Helen Clyde Gee Stokesberry Ady of Fort Worth.
Jean A. “Johnny” Blommaert, 72, died Friday, March 8, 2013 in Amarillo. Rosary will be said Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Minton Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Richard Zannetti officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Borger - Juanita Frances Puryear, 78, died Friday, March 8, 2013.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Southside Baptist Church in Borger. Interment will be held privately at Woodlawn Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada. Services entrusted to Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Juanita was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Clarksville, Texas, to Zelma and David Pollock. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Sanford Puryear; brothers, Marion Russell Pollock and Donald Wayne Scott; sister Linda Joyce Norton; and one step-great granddaughter.
Gladys Krug Williams, 87, died February 25, 2013.
She was born on July 27, 1926, in Wheeler County, Texas.
As a registered nurse, Gladys worked as the surgery floor supervisor at Golden Plains Hospital in Borger, TX. She retired in the late 1980’s. She loved reading, crafting, square dancing, and most of all flower gardening.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Richard “Slim” Williams; sister, Mildred Young; and brother, Ralph Krug.
Rex Eakins, 88. of Borger. died Sunday March 10, 2013, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 14, at Westlawn Memorial park Cemetery with Rocky Eakins officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Evergreen at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Rex was born April 30, 1924, at Hammon, Okla., to Fred and Noma Morris Eakins. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was a retired truck driver.
