June 10th
Services for Evelyn Enloe, 91, of Slaton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2013 in Slaton's Bible Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Englund's Funeral Service of Slaton.
Max Wayne Hefner, 78, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Riverview Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. His memory may be honored with a gift to Gideons International.
Joyce Elaine Smirl, 63, died June 10, 2013, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Highland Park Cemetery with Mr. Richard Kasko, Fritch Church of Christ, officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. There will be a family visitation from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
June 5th
The dinner was held Tuesday night at Union Hall in Borger. Attendees were treated to music from God's Country and an inspiring speech from local cancer survivor, Jeff Hart. More Photos are featured in the Thursday edition of the BNH.

From Coach Amy Hall: Borger ISD's first combined boys and girls high school and middle school summer athletic development program started on Monday, June 3rd at 6:30 am with 68 athletes attending the first session. By 10:00 am, over 115 athletes had gone through one of the three one and a half hour sessions.
June 4th
James Freeman “Sonny” Cassity, Jr., 75, of Stinnett died Sunday June 2, 2013, in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday June 6, 2013, at Grace Fellowship Church with pastor Tim Hall and Willy Adams, pastor of Eternal Light Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. A family visitation will be June 5th Wednesday at Minton Chatwell, 314 S. Hedgecoke in Borger, from 6-8 p.m.
Fay Whisenant Trayler passed peacefully from this life on the morning of May 25, 2013, at the age of 93 years. She will be missed. Her Funeral was June 3rd at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, with burial in Borger, Texas, June 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM
June 2nd
Officials from various departments, including the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, National Park Service, and Fritch departments, responded to the scene of a motorist whose car went off a cliff in the Lake Meredith area Saturday. The motorist was airlifted from the scene. The BNH has contacted the HCSO for further details and will report them as soon as they are available. (PHOTO BY DON RICE)
Award winning author of four novels, Carla Stewart, will speak at the Borger Rotary on Tuesday, June 4.
Carla (Brune) Stewart has deep roots in the Texas Panhandle. Born in Guymon, Oklahoma, she moved with her parents to the Sher-Han camp north of Gruver, at the age of two and graduated from Gruver High School in 1968.
She received a degree in nursing from the University of Oklahoma and married her college sweetheart, Max Stewart of Balko, OK. They have four adult sons, three of whom graduated from Balko High School, and six grandchildren.
