The Borger City Council has approved the issuance of $3 million in bonds that will be used to take care of various projects throughout the City of Borger. Watch Thursday's paper for the full story.

After another frigid morning, temperatures will struggle to get back to the freezing mark (32°) this afternoon. We’ll have some clouds around in the morning morning before the decrease as the day wears on. The wind will be light, blowing from the northeast and east between 5 and 15 mph.

The meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in the city council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.

A public meeting regarding sports construction projects, along with several items of business, is on the agenda for the PSPCISD board of trustees this evening.
The Plemons-Stinnett-Phillips CISD board will meet this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the West Texas High School Commons.
A public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. to provide information concerning possible future construction projects and to seek input from the community.
The presenter will be PBK Sports and Specialized Public Finance, Inc.

The Lady Plainsmen claimed a ten point victory, while the Plainsmen came up two points shy in a conference matchup on Saturday in Borger.
The ladies were up first in what would be a close contest throughout the first half. Rodriguez, Sullivan, and Thomas all have field goals early for FPC. Good defense forces WTC to be called for a shot clock violation, and Thomas also has a block on the defensive end.
McNeal Purvis, 87, of Borger, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger, Texas with Reverend Leonard Forsythe, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the “Garden of Love” at Westlawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Naomi Gertrude Keeton Rice, the 5th child of John Riley Richard and Martha Elvira (Moore) Keeton, was born August 6, 1916, in Cherokee County near Peggs, Oklahoma.
Charles Leon Jett passed away Dec. 18, 2012, in Rockport, Texas, at the age of 78. He was born on Jan. 8, 1934, to Joe P. and Nettie Jett in Chilicothe, Texas.
