The Fritch Lady Eagles claimed a district victory on Tuesday night over Boys Ranch, and improved to 14-6 on the season and 1-1 in district play. Boys Ranch falls to 0-2.
They beat Boys Ranch 68-29 holding them to only 13 points in the first half of play.
Mikala Setliff finished with 18 points to lead the Lady Eagles. Christa White with 16, Blakely Meek with 14, and Bailey Hardy with 10, all contributed to the victory.
The Fritch teams will travel to Spearman for their next district contest on Friday.
It was a happy birthday for Coach Hackett as the Frank Phillips Plainsmen gave him a thrilling come-from-behind victory in their first conference game of the season.
FPC beat Clarendon on the road by a score of 102-100. Both teams have 11-4 records on the year.
Remarkably, the Plainsmen were down by 19 points at one point, but came back and won by two over a stunned and talented Clarendon team.
It was a battle to the finish in the Lady Bulldogs' district opener against Dalhart. In a very physical contest, the Lady Wolves prevailed, 57-48.
Dalhart scored the first 8 points, holding Borger scoreless for almost three minutes with a tough press break. Prater puts Borger on the board, scoring their first four points. Francis also hits a jumper for Borger. Wood was great on the boards all night, and her first two came from an offensive rebound and a put back. Gillum would go coast-to-coast to lay in another two for the Lady Dogs, and they end the first down 19-11.
Charles Royce Timmons, 82, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mr. Timmons was born on Oct. 16, 1930, in Russel, Okla., to Dora and Minnis Timmons. Shortly after graduating high school he joined the Navy. He served on the attack cargo ship USS Skagit (AKA 105).
George Eugene â€śGeneâ€ť Mason, age 74 of Borger died January 3, 2013.
Memorial Services are set for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 10 at First Assembly of God, 500 Mackenzie in Stinnett. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur.
Gene was born April 16, 1938 to Charles A. and AdaMaude (Bayless) Mason in Bartlesville, OK.
Lovell Kennard, 74, formerly of Skellytown, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in Borger.
No services are scheduled. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Lovell Kennard was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Wichita, Kan. He retired as a Deputy Sheriff after being in law enforcement for 23 years. Lovell married Nelda Kale March 17, 1979, in Pampa. He loved his family, grandkids, great-grandchild, and friends.
Survivors include his wife Nelda; a son Roger Kennard; three grandchildren, Kory Tice, Kala Tice, Mikah Tice, and a great-granddaughter Breklyn Tice.
HAPPY â€“ James Dietz, 82, died Jan. 8, 2013, in Amarillo, TX.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Happy with Rev. Daniel Dreher, pastor of St. Maryâ€™s Catholic Church in Umbarger and Holy Name Catholic Church of Happy, and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld of Nazareth, officiating. Rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Happyâ€™s Memorial Chapel.

As the bill most of the country knows as Obamacare gets ready to go into effect, hospitals must be prepared for how it will affect them.
The Borger ISD board is set to meet this Thursday, Jan. 10.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Borger ISD Administration Building, 200 East Ninth.
The board will consider action on a resolution to suspend portions of EI (Local), EIA (Local), and EIC (Local) for the 2013 school year only. Action will also be taken on budget amendments, and items under the board's consent agenda, which include December meeting minutes, December payroll, December disbursements, and donations.
