Oneta Claudette Northrup

Oneta Claudette Northrup, 75, died January 10, 2013 in Borger. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Stinnett Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
She came to Borger in 1956 and was married to Freddie Northrup.
Oneta was preceded in death by her husband, son Richard David Wiles, step daughter Velva Lynn Northrup, 3 brothers and 7 sisters.

FPC teams handed first conference loss

Odessa College rolled over the Frank Phillips teams on Thursday night in an NJCAA matchup, handing them their first loss early in conference play.
The Lady Plainsmen jumped out to a 7-2 lead early, with five points from Bohlar and two from Smith. Bohlar was hot early and hit another three off of a Lytle screen. Odessa answered with a three of their own. Lytle hits two inside, and Smith goes coast-to-coast for FPC, but Odessa had an answer for both field goals.

Lusk named to Dean's List

January 11, 2013

A 2012 graduate of Borger High School, Max Lusk, has been named to the Dean's Honor Roll for Seward County Community College with a 3.63 GPA. Max is studying towards a Physical Therapy Degree.
Lusk is also a member of the Seward County Saints baseball team and finished the fall baseball season with the highest batting average on the team, hitting .385. He is a freshman outfielder for the Saints. They will start their spring season on February 2nd.
Proud parents are Danny Ray and Karen Lusk.

United we stand at $641,853.06

The $645,000 goal was missed just slightly, but the $641,853.06 raised by Hutchinson Countians for the Hutchinson County United Way is still impressive - very.
“I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all you do,” said United Way Director Julie Winters at yesterday’s Celebration Luncheon held at Graced Land East. “Every charitable organization in our county will benefit from your generosity.”
Agrium took the Industry Challenge and Cornerstone awards with 97% employee participation for a total of $43,113.

Should our president enforce gun control?

With the recent violent incident in Newtown, Conn., on the mind of many people, the President of the United States is considering some serious action.
On Wednesday, vice-president Joe Biden said that President Barack Obama intends to take serious action on gun control even if it means going around Congress and issuing executive orders to do so. He said the president will act.

Gas prices drop at Lowe's in Fritch

Gas prices have dropped at Lowe's in Fritch! Kevin Keener, manager of Lowe's Supermarket in Fritch, said his boss instructed him to drop the wholesale price of gas to $2.89.
