James (Jim) Leroy Richardson, 65, of Amarillo, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Amarillo. A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stinnett, Texas, with Pastor Tim Hall officiating.
Jim was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harold and Nancy Kates.
Clinton Larry Eddins, 41, of Amarillo, died Friday Dec. 7, 2012, in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Forsythe officiating. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral directors of Borger.
Clinton was born Nov. 8, 1971, in Borger. He attended Borger schools. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frances and L. G. Fanshier and an uncle LeRoy Fanshier.

Borger citizens are giving thanks to the community this holiday season.
Local citizens called the Borger News-Herald and posted on Facebook complimenting others in the community and how they have given back to them.

Improvements at Bulldog Stadium will be on the agenda of the Borger ISD board of trustees at its upcoming meeting.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in the board conference room of the Borger ISD Administration Building, located at 200 East Ninth in Borger.
The board will be considering qualifications and selection of Parkhill, Smith, and Cooper, Inc. for professional architecture and engineering services at Bulldog Stadium.

There is no doubt about it. Borger News-Herald readers and staff love their Christmas movies.
BNH Facebook fans were asked what movie gets them in the Christmas spirit during this time of year. Sammy Ponce said he enjoys “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2: Lost In New York”.
Janice Brewster said she likes to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special. Lisa Lamberson Willis said her favorite holiday film is “Prancer.” Amanda Deschaines said she likes the holiday classic “White Christmas”.

Recent copper wire theft from area radio towers could have an adverse effect on people’s lives.
According to Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards, a serious matter is at hand – the theft of copper wire from radio towers.
“What the deal is, they go in and steal the lightning protection, which is thick copper surrounding the bust bars, but they also steal all the copper wire around and not only did they put us off by stealing the copper wire, they stole the electrical service,” said Richards.

The Borger Bulldog 9th grade and JV teams both fared very well in their own tournament.
The 9th grade boys played Dumas in the championship game after soundly beating Spearman and River Road in previous games. They found themselves down by as much as 11 in the first half, but cut that lead to 4 at halftime. Borger came out on fire and briefly took the lead in the third quarter.
Dumas proved to be too much in the fourth, though, and Dumas took the championship 54-37.
The Bulldog JV looked strong throughout the tournament.

The tournament held at Johnson Park last weekend was a good time for all.
There were 30 entries in this years' tournament, with winners getting a cash payout. They were also treated to a free brisket lunch, which I can attest was outstanding.
Annadon Keys, the supervisor at the park, commented, “The disc golf players are some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They came from Borger, Amarillo, Lubbock, Pampa, Childress, White Deer, Wichita Falls, and Clovis this year to compete on our course.”

Tomorrow night, on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. the Board of Trustees of the Sanford-Fritch Independent School District will hold a public forum on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas and a regular meeting at the SFISD Administration Building, 540 Eagle Blvd. in Fritch.
