The holiday we all know as Halloween is tomorrow, and there are many safe, clean, and fun options for local citizens to consider as they celebrate the holiday.
â€˘First Baptist of Borger, 100 South Hedgecoke, will host a Trunk or Treat in its north parking lot from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. There will be a costume contest at 7 p.m. and door prizes given away at 7:30 p.m.

The Borger Police Department took the lead in a shut down of an illegally operated establishment on 11th Street Saturday night.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD said that on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, an illegally operating establishment known as â€śDa Cutts,â€ť located on East 11th Street, was shut down as law enforcement officers executed a search warrant for the premises.
The illegally operated establishment had become notorious for calls for service for law enforcement due to fights, gun shots in the area, narcotics activity, and other breaches of the peace, he said.
A local supermarket is doing its part to help with a special project being done by Living Water Ministries this holiday season.
Becky Dietz, director of Living Water Ministries, said Loweâ€™s Supermarket has graciously set up a table for all of the contents for its â€śBags of Blessingsâ€ť project. These will be distributed by Living Water to the less fortunate during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
â€śWeâ€™re so grateful to Loweâ€™s Supermarket for creating a convenient way to shop for Bags of Blessings,â€ť she said. â€śWe hope the people of Hutchinson County will participate!â€ť
Merkel- Charles â€śHerbyâ€ť Simmons, 90, is dancing to his heartâ€™s content, having passed away October 24, 2012 in Temple after a long battle with Alzheimerâ€™. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27th at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Reverend David Cason officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Roy Earl â€śSandyâ€ť Sandefur, 90, of Borger died Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene, with Terry Porter, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.

A well-known country music artist is making his way to the Borger stage.
Collin Raye, known as a certified Nashville hit-maker and platinum recording artist, will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Borger High School Auditorium. The concert is being brought to Borger by the Tri-City Concert Association.
The Borger Bulldogs found the win column on Friday night against their favorite team to beat. For the last seven years, Borger has won the matchup against the beast in the east (as George Grover calls them).. the Pampa Harvesters. Friday was no different as Borger handed Pampa their first district loss and picked up their first win on the year. As it is every year, this game had everything and went down to the wire. Borger prevailed 21-14 and improved to 1-1 in district play.
FORMERLY OF BORGER, TX â€“ Paula S. (Records) Hagerty, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in Orange County, Calif.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Ochiltree Cemetery with Rev. James Stephens of Borger officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Paula was born July 23, 1952, in Borger, TX, and lived in the area. She was a graduate of the Massachusetts University School of Nursing and was a nurse.
