Sherry La Sha Elliot

Sherry La Sha Elliot, 47, of Stinnett, Texas died, December 24, 2012 from complications of lung cancer.  Sherry was born in Dallas, Texas, April 24, 1965.  She traveled with her family & sister, living in Charleston, S C., Virginia Beach, VA, Pearl City, Hawaii, and Rogers, AK.  She moved to Hutchinson County, after the death of her Husband, in Lake Havasu, AZ.  She is survived by her Father, Norman E. Cook, of Borger, TX,  her Mother, Linda C.

Betty Ann (Grant) Denton

Betty Ann was born on February 19, 1929 in Macon, Georgia, to William Russell and Ethel Gladys Grant, and passed from this life on Christmas Eve – December 24, 2012. She was 83. She has two brothers, David Russell and Charles Mullis Grant, both of Macon. She married Beale Barnard Denton on January 1, 1950, and they had six children, She has 23 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

The Herd too much for Borger

Borger hosted the Herd from Hereford in a Friday night showdown. Turnovers were a key stat in both games, as both Borger teams finished with over 30 in their respective games.
The Varsity Lady Bulldogs took almost four minutes off the clock before they scored their first field goal, a fast break lay-up by Lawson. N. Embers has a steal which leads to two for her, and Lawson drives in for another two. Gillum sinks two free throws for Borger, and they are down 16-8 after the first quarter.

Edward E. “Buddy” Rowh

Fritch - Edward E. “Buddy” Rowh, 85, of Fritch died Tuesday, December 25, in Amarillo. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28 at the Riverview Baptist Church. Burial was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.

Carolyn Ethel Duke Jones

Carolyn Ethel Duke Jones was born in Borger, Texas on December 1,1948 to Elbert and Mary Duke. She graduated from Borger High school in 1967 where she was a member of the Borger band. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church where she participated in the Young Woman’s AuxilIary. Carolyn passed away on December 22,2012 after a courageous battle with a brief illness with family at her side. Over the years, Carolyn has had many different jobs from child care provider to customer services representative and secretary, but the job she cherished most was that of wife, mother, and “grammy”.

FRITCH - Jenny Johnston, 79, of Amarillo, formerly of Fritch, died Monday, December 24, 2012 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Blain Shelton of Grace Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Wednesday paper inserted inside today’s edition; BNH experiences printer problems

Due to unforeseen electrical problems with the press, the Borger News-Herald was unable to print its Wednesday paper as planned. The Wednesday paper will be inserted inside today’s edition of the paper. Both papers were sent to an outside location to be printed.

The Borger Police Department adds new dimension to Eyes and Ears on the street to help create a safer community.
The Borger Police Department is launching tip411, an internet based tool that enables the public to text message an anonymous tip to Police, and enables the Police respond back creating a two way anonymous “chat”.
Reserved exclusively for Public Safety purposes and powered by CitizenObserver, a St. Paul MN company, tip411 puts a powerful new Crime Fighting tool into the hands of our community for all ages and demographics.
