PAMPA – Preston Sargent, 83, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in White Deer, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Chaplain Jim Yates of Interim Hospice officiating. Military honors are courtesy of the U. S. Navy, and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Linda Garrett, 64, of Fritch went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at St Andrew Methodist Church in Buena Vista, with Ted & Jody Wilson and Pastor John Westman officiating. Arrangements are by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors, Fritch, TX.
Mrs. Garrett was born January 8, 1948, in Amarillo to Bluford and Dorothy Turner.

The Bulldogs (0-4) traveled down the road to Canyon hoping to spoil the 4A Randall Raider's (4-0) homecoming Friday night at Kimbrough Stadium. The Dogs would struggle early in the game, but settled down and came up with some great plays. Although they had some bright moments, they came up on the short side in the contest, 49-6.

Damon Matthew Dacus, 28, died Sept. 26, 2012, in Dumas.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Borger with Pastor Doug Washburn of New Life Community Church in Palestine, TX, officiating.
CANYON (formerly of Borger) - Peggy Jo Anderson, 84, died Sept. 23, 2012, in Amarillo, TX.
A memorial service will be held at Brooks Funeral Directors in Canyon, Texas, on Saturday, September 29, at 10:00 AM. There will also be a graveside ceremony at Westlawn Memorial Park between Borger and Fritch (about 6 miles west of Borger on Highway 136) at 12:30 PM on Saturday. Pastor John Elser, interim pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Tonight is the night!
HOPE 2012, with a theme of “This Is Cure Country, A Tribute to 25 years of HOPE,” is set to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the Crutch Ranch.
Robert Earl Keen will be the headliner for the event, and the Buster Bledsoe Band will be this year's dance band. Honorary chairs this year are Brandon Beagle and Melissa Hansen.
The meal for this year is a prime rib dinner with all of the fixings from Big Texan Catering.

Just a few more days and the annual FlintFest will be here for the public to indulge in and have a good time with nature.
This month Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument will celebrate Texas Archeology Month with the third annual “Alibates Rocks! FlintFest” on September 29-30 to celebrate the special resource known as Alibates flint. FlintFest runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. All events are free.

The Hutchinson County United Way Golf Scramble is coming up soon!
The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Borger Country Club Golf Course, located at 301 Broadmoor.
The format of the event is a four-person scramble ($180 for the team and $45 per person). Mulligans are two for $5. The event is limited to the first 24 teams.
Dale A. Milner, 61, of Borger, TX, passed away, Monday, September 24, 2012.
Dale Alan Milner was born Monday, July 30, 1951 in Borger, TX to Glen and Rosemary (Nuzum) Milner. He was a safety trainer for the Department of Energy at B & W Pantex.
Mr. Milner is preceded in death by his parents.
