Borger's representative in the state senate was in town Monday to talk to the public about various issues.
Kel Seliger, State Senator for District 31, stopped at Borger City Hall. He said the 83rd legislature will convene in January. Committees have already been working, particularly in the areas of finance and public education, because he said there is a tremendous amount of work to be done.

Megan Parr has accepted the position of family and consumer sciences agent for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Hutchinson County.
“Megan has a heart for service and helping people,” said Danny Nusser, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo. “She will utilize her unique abilities to communicate, network, and motivate youth and adult audiences, while providing outstanding programs.

The Borger Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors will meet tomorrow.
The meeting is set to begin around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the BEDC headquarters located at 1111 Penn Avenue.
The board will act on carpet bids and will hear updates on 3904 South Cedar and the Presson Service Company. Action will also be taken on meeting minutes, and a review of financial statements will take place, along with approval of expenditures.

Stinnett and surrounding citizens should come give blood, save a life and honor Blaze Coffee, who passed away after a workplace accident in 2009 at the age of 20.
The drive will be held from from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 17, at the Community Center, 801 Main Street, in Stinnett.
Every eligible donor who presents to donate will receive a special Blaze Coffee Memorial t-shirt.
A photo ID or donor card is required to donate, and donors must be at least 17 years of age to be eligible to give blood.

Two state leaders that represent the Hutchinson County area will be in Borger next week to talk with citizens.
Kel Seliger, State Senator for District 31, will be speaking at the Borger City Hall located at 600 North Main this Monday, Sept. 10.
The town hall meeting, which will be focused on the upcoming 83rd legislative session convening in January 2013, will run from 3-4 p.m. next Monday.
Leon Wesley DeWeese, 69, longtime resident of Borger, died, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his home in Borger.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim West of First Christian Church of Stinnett officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Devin DeLapp was crowned 2012 homecoming queen for WTHS. She was escorted by Connor St. Charles.

The Borger Bulldogs welcomed the Caprock Longhorns to town with an upset on their minds. Caprock has won the last two meetings between these teams, last year winning 63-49. They put up 70 points last week against Snyder, so the Bulldogs knew coming into the contest that they would have their work cut out for them this week. And boy did they go to work. Between the two teams, 97 points would be scored and 921 yards of offense would be accumulated. Sadly, the Bulldogs came up just three points short to 4A Caprock at Bulldog Stadium.
