Borger opens volleyball season in Canyon

The Lady Bulldogs officially started their volleyball season Tuesday night in Canyon. They played two state ranked teams in Bushland and Canyon, and lost in straight sets 3-0, 3-0.

James Ernest (Jim) Main

August 15, 2012

James E. Main (86) died on Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas. He was born August 19, 1925 in Oklahoma City, OK to Francis E. Main and Hazel Tyner Main. James was just 8 days away from his 87th birthday.
James (Jim) Main married Dorothy Joan (Dot) Steele in Oklahoma City on August 17, 1946. Dorothy (born September 28, 1927) was the daughter of Milan G. Steele and Edith Wyant Steele. Jim was preceded in death by Dot on August 17, 2010.

Ronald McDonald House doing part to help families

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo are doing their part to help provide much-needed services to people throughout the panhandle of Texas and beyond.
Shelley Cunningham, who is the executive director of Ronald McDonald House, said she has been in the position since June of this year, and is always learning something new. She was the featured speaker at the Borger Rotary Club meeting on Tuesday.

Serendipity comes to Main Street

Serendipity is an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident. And that is just what the Downtown Merchants in Borger have experienced.
Downtown Borger has a new antique store and a place for local artists to sell their homemade crafts. Judy Allen and Leslie Monden opened Serendipity to highlight local artists, homemade crafts and antiques.
Allen and Monden met in the early 1970s while working at the Borger News-Herald and have been friends since -- sharing the same passion for antiques and crafts.

Mobile vet center coming to Borger

The Mobile Vet Center (MVC) of Amarillo is coming to Borger to conduct a 2012 Veteran Outreach in Hutchinson County.
The MVC will be in the Wal-Mart Parking Lot, 1404 W. Wilson St., on Aug. 17, from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. This event will be open to all Veterans, their families, and the public.
The MVC provides education about readjustment counseling services offered at Vet Centers.
All War Zone Vets qualify for counseling services. War Zone Vets with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Military Sexual Trauma may receive care at any Vet Center or MVC.
