Work underway on “Kissless, the musical”

Work is underway on a summer musical production to be filmed right here in Borger.
The “Kissless, the musical” cast has started rehearsals for the musical production. Production for will take place from July 7th through August 9th, with performances open to the public on August 3rd and 4th.
The Borger Economic Development Board of Directors approved to give Chat Productions a $75,000 grant to help the company prepare to film “Kissless, the Musical”.

James M. “Jim” Ormsby

Funeral services for James M. “Jim” Ormsby, 86, who died July 10, 2012 in Plainview will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the 1st United Methodist Church in Borger with Rev. Don Boren, District Supervisor of Abilene and Rev. Johnny Robertson, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Plans underway for new medical office building

Plans are underway for a new medical office building that will be located close to the new Golden Plains Community Hospital.
Dennis Jack, CEO of GPCH, said plans are to construct an 9,200 square foot building that will house four doctors, the General Surgeon, the Orthopedic Surgeon, the Internal Medicine Doctor and the OB/GYN, in separate areas, as well as the Golden Plains Rural Health Clinic. The hospital is also considering installing dialysis services in the new clinic if it can be determined the need is sufficient in the county.

Vintage and classy comes to downtown Borger

Downtown Main Street welcomes something vintage and classy as part of the downtown merchants.
The Vintage Pearl, 501 N. Main St., in Borger, officially opened this week as a place for Borger residents to shop. First time boutique owner Shawna Lamb opened this business to help people and offer a laid back and convenient shopping experience.

PSPCISD locking down on new iPad security

Back in April, PSPCISD board members approved action to buy iPads for high school students.
Now that the iPads are in the possession of the students, PSPCISD faculty members have made it where they can watch the functions on each iPad. This was discussed in Tuesday’s meeting.
PSPCISD purchased 20 packs of 10 iPads (200 iPads) for students, along with a Macbook and sync cart that will allow teachers to sync apps to 30 iPads at a time. The total cost was about $119,684, plus an extra $2,000 for protective covers.

Borger appoints new CRMWA board member

The Borger City Council has appointed a new member to the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority Board of Directors.
During its regular meeting last week, the council acted to name Bill Carder as the city’s newest representative on the board.
The recent passing of longtime member Tom Edmonds created an unexpired term on the board. Edmonds had served on this board continuously from August of 1998 until his passing on April 6, 2012. His term would have expired on the 31st of this month.

Chevron Phillips Borger Plant named recipient of Caring for Texas

The Texas Chemical Council and Association of Chemical Industry of Texas’s recognized Chevron Phillips Chemical Company’s Borger Plant as a recipient of Caring for Texas. Caring for Texas recognizes member facilities that, during the previous calendar year, achieved exemplary results and demonstrated a strong commitment to their employees and their community in emergency response, security and pollution prevention. The TCC/ACIT Annual Awards Banquet was held on Thursday, June 7th at Moody Gardens Resort & Conference Center in Galveston, Texas.

LARNED, KS - Janice Helene Schneck, 81, passed away July 3, 2012, at the Catholic Care Center, Bel Aire.
She was born March 13, 1931, in Great Bend, Kansas; the daughter of Donald J. and Ellen Quigley Younkin.
A lifetime area resident; she was a Homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Extension Homemakers Unit, all of Larned. She collected rocking horses, enjoyed painting and Genealogy.
On August 18, 1949, she married Lawrence Schneck Jr. in Larned. He survives.
