Mr. Treat Donuts reopens for business!

A favorite breakfast hot spot for many local residents reopened for business on Monday!
Mr. Treat Donuts reopened its doors this Monday, July 2, under the new ownership of Ken and Sylvia Brockett. The business will be open from 5 a.m. until noon Monday through Saturday.
Ken said he had difficulty seeking employment, and when he saw the article in the newspaper regarding the closure of Mr. Treat Donuts, he was interested in reopening it.
He got in touch with the former owner Teresa Bellow, got some particulars, and decided to go forward with purchasing the business.

Author donates newly published book to hometown of Borger

A Longview author is donating her first newly published book to her hometown of Borger.
Tijuana Edwards-Taylor just published her first Christian book titled “The Adventures of Buddy Blue Bug and the Critter of the Gospel,” illustrated by R. Jeneé Wilson.

David Eugene Huffine

David Eugene Huffine, 58, died Saturday, May 12, at his home at Peaceful Scout Camp in Elbert, Colo.
Memorial services were held at the Scout Ranch on Sunday, May 20. David was cremated and his ashes were scattered on his favorite spot on ranch on a hill overlooking the Peaceful Volley Scout Ranch.

Marilyn Smith

Marilyn Smith, 89, passed away June 27, 2012 in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was born on July 12, 1922 to Warren James Lewis and Margaret Nadine. After the death of her father, she was adopted by her step-father Hugh F. Sears. Marilyn graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1940. After high school, she attended Hills Business University to become a secretary. Marilyn was employed by Tinker Field Air Force Base where she worked for 3 years as supervisor of supplies. Marilyn married George A Smith June 2, 1945 and they were married for 67 years. George served in the Air Force at that time.

Amarillo – Ilene Carter, 84, of Amarillo died June 29, 2012. A memorial service was held Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, with Pastor Mike Nuthman of Hillside Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Kenneth Ray Boydston

Kenneth Ray Boydston, 79, died Wednesday June 27 in Carlsbad, NM. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 2 at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church officiating.
Kenneth was born in Bend, Texas to Eugene V. Boydston and Thelma Kay Smith Boydston.
In 1953 he began his service in the Army.
He lived in Borger for 55 years working in the oil and gas industry as a pumper for Panhandle Producers.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vernon, TX.
