On Wednesday, Frank Phillips College Head Menâ€™s Basketball Coach Chris Hackett announced the signing of Nick Barnes and Gary Gladden for the 2012-13 season.
Barnes, an Alabama native, gives the Plainsmen another 6-6 player who Hackett expects to make a big impact on defense. Hackett commented, â€śA wing with incredible athleticism. Plays above the rim, but handles the ball well and shoots the three consistently. He is big for his position and has a lot of length that will cause a lot of problems defensively.â€ť
The Amarillo Venom will be hosting a football camp on June 16th sponsored by Education Credit Union. All kids from 2nd to 8th grade are invited out to work on their football skills with the Venom players and coaches.
Every participant will get a FREE ticket to the June 16th game, a t-shirt, the opportunity to come down on the field during the pregame show and much more!

On June 30th seven individuals will be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame during â€śCollege Baseballâ€™s Night of Championsâ€ť in Lubbock at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center theater beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The 2012 Hall of Fame class will be headlined by Georgia Tech and Boston Red Sox great Nomar Garciaparra, Rice coach Wayne Graham and St. Louis Cardinals legend Lou Brock. The other four inductees include Ed Cheff, Tim Jorgensen, Frank Sancet, and Brad Wilkerson.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Patrick Henry Ames, 59, died Thursday June 7, 2012 in Borger. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Pat was a lifetime resident of Borger and a 1971 Graduate of Borger High School and a 1973 Graduate of Frank Phillips College. He married Marsha Inman December 7, 1974 at the Gardner St. Church of Christ in Borger. Pat was a Field Stillman for Phillips 66 for 37 years.
An adoption agency in the Amarillo area truly has a heart not only for the process of adoption, but also for everyone involved in the process.
Cindy Gilliland, Director and Founder of the Special Delivery Infant Adoption Agency in Amarillo, was the featured speaker for the Borger Rotary Club Tuesday afternoon. She said the agency is the only one of its type in the panhandle and truly has God at the heart of it.
She said adoption truly affects more families that most people realize. She said in the past, adoption was not an option for birthmothers, and they had no say-so in the matter.
A Childrenâ€™s Miracle Network Bowling tournament is being held this Sunday.
Childrenâ€™s Miracle Network helps as many children as possible by raising funds for childrenâ€™s hospitals and keeping funds in the community in which they were raised to help them.
The organization was founded by Marie Osmond and her family, John Schneider, Mick Shannon and Joe Lake.
According to Veronica Young of the Borger Wal-Mart, this event is to raise money for the Childrenâ€™s Miracle Network out of BSA Hospital.
Ronald Lynn â€śRedâ€ť Gaddis, 76, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Corky Holland, senior adult minister at First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Stinnett Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Gaddis was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Ringling, Oklahoma to George and Belva Turner.
Millard Dee Harrison, 69, went to be with his loving wife Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Graveside Service: Noon Monday at Azleland Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Whiteâ€™s Azle Funeral Home.
Millard was born September 30, 1942 in Borger to Jessie Ceals and Velma Thomason Harrison.
He dearly loved his family. Millard worked to provide for them by working on equipment. Late in life he retired from Stuart Hose and Pipe after seventeen years. Millard was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Linda Sue Harrison in 2007.
Zona Coffer, 94, of Borger died Monday June 4, 2012, in Borger.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Tim Yates, Chaplain of Interim Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
