On Monday morning, Sanford-Fritch High School senior Logan Jameson signed a letter of intent to join the Clarendon College Menâ€™s Golf team.
Jameson had a good 2012 spring season which included qualifying for the 2A Region I Golf Tournament where he shot a 90-90-180.
Jameson joins a Bulldog golf team that qualified for this yearâ€™s NJCAA National Championships Golf Tournament in itsâ€™ first year of play.
The Bulldogs Menâ€™s Golf team is under the direction of Clarendon College Athletic Director and Golf Coach John Green.
Two weeks have passed since Rusty Purser made the official announcement he was stepping down as the Borger Athletic Director and Head Football Coach in order to take the same positions at Taylor ISD near Austin.
During that time, Borger ISD Superintendent Chance Welch said as of Thursday, May 3rd, the school district had received around 45 applicants expressing interest in the Borger AD and Head Football positions, with interviews tentatively to start taking place next week starting on Monday, May 14th.
Fannie Plummer, 101, of Riverside, passed away, Sunday, May 6, 2012.
Fannie Louise (Yankoviz) Plummer was born Monday, October 10, 1910 in Cherokee, KS to Joseph and Anna (Oceanaviz) Yankoviz. She married Charlie Plummer in September of 1933. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie on February 5, 1982; and five brothers and one sister.
The Borger Police Department is still seeking answers in the recent burglary of the China Dynasty Restaurant.
As of Monday, Lt. Anthony Griffin of BPD said there have been a lot of calls, but no real developments to report at this time. He said tips that have come in are being actively investigated and the investigation is ongoing.
The burglary occurred on Sunday, April 15, 2012. That day at around 9:40 a.m., officers from Borger PD responded to China Dynasty at 1030 Megert Circle in reference to the incident.
Itâ€™s spring again!
That means it is time for Borgerâ€™s annual carnival - full of rides, games, and food.
The Borger Chamber of Commerce will yet again hold its annual â€śSpring Fling Carnivalâ€ť starting Wednesday, May 30, 2012, through Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Wrist bands will be available at the gate or separate tickets can be purchased for rides and games.
Operating hours are 6 p.m -11:30 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, 2 p.m.-12 a.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday.
The carnival will be held on the grounds near the Hutchinson County Aluminum Dome.
A U.S. Marine and longtime Borger resident was promoted to the rank of corporal in the United States Marine Corps during a ceremony with Marines and Sailors from the Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group aboard the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek â€“ Fort Story on May 1.
Dallas McNutt, who graduated from Borger High School in 2009, currently serves as a comptroller at the Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group.
Since his enlistment in September of 2009, McNutt has provided more than $13 million in fiscal support to the Marines, Sailors, and civilian personnel of the unit.
