Frank Phillips College Boy’s Basketball Camp scheduled

Frank Phillips College Men’s Head Basketball Coach Chris Hackett will be hosting a boy’s basketball camp on Tuesday, May 29th through Friday, June 1st at the BCAC. The camp is open to boys ages 7-17 and is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day.
In the camp, Hackett and the FPC Coaching Staff will focus on fundamentals including shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defense, and individual offense. The camp will also feature 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5 leagues, daily competitions, and camp prizes and certificates.

Bulldogs square off with the Lobos in Bi-District Playoffs

On Thursday evening, the Borger Bulldogs (9-13) will have the rare luxury of opening up the playoffs on their home field when they take on the Levelland Lobos (21-7) in game one of a best-of-three series in the 3A Bi-District Playoff Round.
The Bulldogs and Lobos are not complete strangers on the baseball diamond, as the two teams were district foes prior to the last realignment back in 2009 and 2010.

Emma Elizabeth Moser was born September 11, 1924 and passed away April 26, 2012 at her home in Greeley, Colorado. She was preceded by her husband Jean Walton Moser, June 3, 1985. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank L. Cox, one granddaughter, Wendy Lynn Burleigh, as well as 5 siblings.

Vikki Mayers

Vikki Mayers, 52, of Fritch, passed away, Sunday, April 29, 2012.
Vikki Louise (Mangels) Mayers was born Tuesday, December 8, 1959 in Wichita, KS to Floyd and Velma (Soyner) Mangels. She married Lonnie Mayers on January 27, 1995 in Ulysses, KS.
She is preceded in death by her husband.

Local kids encouraged to “get a clue” at the library this summer

Next month, summer will officially be here and children will be out of school.
Parents can still make summer fun for kids and help prevent information loss at the same time through the county libraries’ Summer Reading Program.
A common finding across numerous studies is that on average, students score lower on standardized tests at the end of the summer than they do at the beginning of summer (on the same test).
This loss for all students is estimated to be equal to about one month of teaching.

RFL team fund raising in full swing

Teams involved in this year’s Relay For Life are in the midst of fund raising efforts.
Maggie Pena’s team is currently selling tickets for a drawing involving an original oil painting by Nester Hernandez entitled “Walk by Faith.” Hernandez is a former Marine Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp that graciously donated the painting for the Relay For Life efforts. The drawing for the painting will be held this Saturday.
