On Saturday afternoon, the Perryton Rangers jumped out on top of the Borger Bulldogs early and were able to hang on for a 5-3 win in District 1-3A action at Huber Park.
The Bulldogs had a couple of opportunities to either tie the game or take the lead. But good Ranger defense and a big break in the fourth inning kept a late Bulldog rally from taking place.
Perryton opened the game by hitting a lead-off double and RBI single to take a 0-1 lead on the first two pitches of the game.
Before the Bulldogs could get off the field, two errors led to two more Ranger runs, making it a 0-3 game.
On April 10th, the Perryton Rangerettes used a seventh inning rally to get the 10-9 win over the Lady Bulldogs in Perryton.
On Saturday afternoon, late inning heroics took place again, as the Rangerettes scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to escape Borger with a 3-2 win in District 1-3A action.
In the top of the first inning, the Rangerettes took a 0-1 lead off a passed ball at home plate. But the Lady Bulldogs quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning with Alex Lopez hitting a triple and being brought in on a RBI single by Dakota Karins.
On Saturday afternoon, Midland College won both of their WJCAC games against the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen, 6-1 and 16-3.
In game one, Lucinda Ponce hit a home run in the third inning, but the big hit would be just one of the two hits the Lady Plainsmen would get in the game.
After scoring two runs in the first inning, Midland College started to pull away by adding a run in both the third and fourth innings.

Give a gift to those who need it, the gift of life, and learn more about the community in the process. May 5, 2012 is Community Awareness Day at the Borger Elks Lodge, 200 Opal.
The blood drive is a part of T.J. Whiteley’s Eagle Scout project. Citizens are encouraged to come to the give the gift of life at the blood drive with Coffee Memorial Blood Center. All eligible donors will receive a t-shirt.
A Borger man arrested Tuesday on explicit conduct charges filed in 2011 declared his innocence in federal court on Thursday.
On March 20, 2011, at the Federal Court House in Amarillo, James Bradley Taylor, 27 years of age, was charged with one count of a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, one count of attempt of receipt of a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and on March 28, 2011, he was charged with his third count for possession of child pornography in federal court.
On Friday evening, the Odessa College Lady Wranglers (40-15 overall, 16-2 WJCAC) used two late inning rallies to get the two game sweep over the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen (12-34, 4-14 WJCAC) in WJCAC softball action at LINN Energy Field.

MIDLAND-On Friday, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen split their two games with Midland College Chaparrals by winning game one 7-5 and dropping game two 0-4 in WJCAC play.
The Plainsmen opened game one by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning to give pitcher Brad Wieck a good cushion to work with from the mound.
Midland chipped away at the lead and pulled to within one run in the fifth inning. But the Plainsmen responded by scoring three in the top of the sixth inning.
Joel Villareal had three RBIs and Nolan Hoskins had two RBIs to lead the Plainsmen at the plate.

The Borger Lady Bulldogs Golf Team came in fifth place at the 3A Region I Golf Tournament at San Angelo Country Club by shooting a two round total of 412-409-821.
The Lady Bulldogs finished 38 strokes ahead of district rival Pampa who had a score of 426-433-859 and four strokes behind fourth place Sweetwater, who had a team score of 817.
Andrews cruised to the regional title with a 643, finishing 99 strokes ahead of second place Snyder which shot a 742.
Clarice Myers led the Lady Bulldogs by shooting 100-101-201.

The Sanford-Fritch ISD board of trustees is seeking to fill a vacancy.
Jim McClellan, SFISD Superintendent, said that due to a vacancy on the SFISD board of trustees, the board will be appointing a member of the community to fill the open seat.
“The board would like to encourage anyone who lives within the boundaries of the SFISD and would like to be considered for this appointed position to write or type a letter, no longer than one page, expressing your desire to become a member of the Sanford-Fritch ISD Board of Trustees,” he said.
Frank Phillips College Men’s Basketball player Mike Evans has signed a letter of intent to play for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Evans was a forward for the Plainsmen the past two seasons. In the 2011-12 season, Evans started 12 games and averaged two points and three rebounds per game. He also averaged 1 block per game, which was third in the league, and did several things for the Plainsmen on the defensive end which did not make its way to the statbook.
