Agnes Louise Stover, 90, of Borger, died Friday April 6, 2012 in Borger.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leonard Forsythe of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Library book sale just around the corner

The Friends of the Library book sale is just around the corner! On April 19-21, books of all kinds and jigsaw puzzles will be available at the Borger library for low prices.
Hours for the sale are 2-7 p.m. Thursday, April 19; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 20; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21. Prices are 50 cents for adult hardbacks, 25 cents for children’s hardbacks, and all paperbacks will be two for 25 cents. In addition, puzzles are 50 cents and gift books are only 25 cents each.

Animal control ordinance approved

An amended animal control ordinance for the City of Borger has been approved.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Borger City Council approved the ordinance on final reading, along with a resolution establishing a schedule of fees, costs, charges, and expenses related to the ordinance.

Lady Plainsmen split series with Adams State JV

On Saturday, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball team split its two game series with Adams State JV in Colorado.
The Lady Plainsmen dropped the first game 11-3 but won the second game 13-5.
In game one, Frank Phillips College jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on and lost 11-3. While Frank Phillips College led until the fifth inning, Adams State JV worked its way back and took the lead on an RBI single in the fifth inning.
In the second inning, Christine Blankenship hit a triple to bring in two RBIs.

FPC Plainsmen split series with El Paso CC

After splitting the first two games of the series on Friday, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and El Paso Community College finished their four game series at a draw by splitting the final two games on Saturday. The Plainsmen opened Saturday getting a 10-0 win but cooled off as El Paso took the final game of the series, 5-0.
In the first Saturday game, the Plainsmen scored two runs in the first inning. But it would be the fourth inning where the Plainsmen pulled away by scoring six runs on their way to forcing the 10-run rule after the fifth inning.

Bulldogs outmuscle the Wolves, 13-3

On Friday afternoon, the Borger Bulldogs got their second 10-run rule win over the Dalhart Golden Wolves in District 1-3A play by a score of 13-3 at Huber Park.
The Wolves kept the game close through the top of the fourth inning, where the Bulldogs had only a 4-3 lead. But in their final three at bats of the game, the Bulldogs racked up ten runs to pull away for the win.
Senior Garth Payton got the start on the pitcher’s mound for the Bulldogs and did a solid job going six 1/3 innings giving up three runs on four hits while striking out five Wolf batters.

Lady Bulldogs rally to beat Dalhart, 5-4

Friday afternoon, the Borger Lady Bulldogs got their first District 1-3A win of the season by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Dalhart Lady Wolves, 5-4, at Agnes Howe Park.
Both teams played a good game on the field. But a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh inning by Dalhart gave Borger the opportunity to tie the game and eventually get the comeback win.

Lucille A. LaPointe

Peacefully on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, Lucille A. LaPointe of International Falls passed away at the Falls Good Samaritan Center just short of her 92nd birthday.
Lucille was born in Holler, Minn., on Feb. 2, 1919, went to St. Thomas School and was proud to be one of the first graduating classes from the school.
She went on to business college to be a secretary. She worked at a few different positions in International Falls before she went to Phillips, Texas, where she was hired at the Phillips Petroleum Company.

Evelyn Hopper Dickerman

Evelyn Hopper Dickerman, 92, previously of Borger, peacefully returned to our Father in heaven on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Tacoma, Washington. She lived in Borger for over 70 years before moving to Graham, Washington in 2009.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Bobby Bridges of Borger officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Good Shepherd at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
