Borger PD makes arrests

April 17, 2012

The Borger Police Department made two important arrests last Monday, one of which may be leading the department to pursue further charges.
On Monday, April 9, 2012, officers from Borger PD arrested Charles Colby Griffin, 24, of Borger, for an outstanding Randall County warrant. The warrant was for bond surrender for an original charge of possession of a controlled substance, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.

Special Luncheon Cuisine to be prepared by Chef Bud

Golden Plains Community Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of a Special Luncheon Cuisine directed by Chef Bud Anderson. The introductory Luncheon will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital’s dining room. GPCH’s Dining will now feature a luncheon cuisine Monday through Friday. This special meal will be available in addition to the variety of foods now served. The price of the featured cuisine will range from $6.99 to $9.99 plus tax. CareNet preparing for “The Great Turnaround”

The CareNet Pregnancy Center of Borger is preparing for a truly one-of-a-kind fundraiser.
The center will hold its fundraiser, with a theme of “The Great Turnaround,” starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Frank Phillips College library.
Susan Trahern, Director of the CareNet Pregnancy Center in Borger, said a speaker from Bruce Wilkinson Ministries will be on hand for the event. Wilkinson is the author of “The Prayer of Jabez.”

Summers sisters make Comanche Tennis History

Last week two sisters from West Texas High made school history by becoming the first girls Doubles District Champions ever! Abby Summers, a senior, and Erin Summers a junior won the District 1A Championship. The girls weren't even seeded going into the District tournament. In fact, they took care of the top seeds from Canadian, in round two. This was a neat accomplishment, because the Wildcats won all the other tennis events.

FPC Boy’s Basketball Camp scheduled for May 29th through June 1st

Frank Phillips College Men’s Head Basketball Coach Chris Hackett will be hosting a boy’s basketball camp on Tuesday, May 29th through Friday, June 1st at the BCAC. The camp is open to boys ages 7-17 and is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day.
In the camp, Hackett and the FPC Coaching Staff will focus on fundamentals including shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defense, and individual offense. The camp will also feature 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5 leagues, daily competitions, and camp prizes and certificates.

  The Future Lady Bulldog Basketball Camp will be held on July 14th through the 17th.
