Faye Gilbreath, 86, of Fritch, passed away, Thursday, March 29, 2012.
Nina Faye (Burns) Gilbreath was born Thursday, July 23, 1925 in Bates, AR to James and Louanne (Sorreles) Burns. She married Elton Gilbreath on February 12, 1946 in Bates, AR. Faye was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elton Gilbreath; her great grandson, Richard Reed Blanchard; one brother and three sisters.

Juanita Griffin, 91, of Hilltop Lakes, passed away surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, March 28, at the St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 1, in the Hilltop Lakes Chapel at 3:00 pm. Juanita will be laid to rest in Westlawn Memorial Park near Borger, TX. Randy Eugene Green, 67, went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2012 in Denison, Texas. He was born October 22, 1944 in Durant, OK, to V.R. and Hollie Green. He attended Phillips High School. He served in the navy from 1962-1966, two years overseas in Vietnam. He resided in Plemons, Tx. and was employed as a field supervisor and managed oil and gas production and construction. He moved to Colbert OK in 1992.
Mildred â€śMemawâ€ť Davis, 86, of Stinnett, passed away, Thursday, March 29, 2012.
Mildred Agnes (Couts) Davis was born Wednesday, July 15, 1925 in Ferry County, WA to William and Agnes (Pierre) Couts. She married Henry Davis on August 28, 1943 in Portland, OR. Mildred was a homemaker
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Davis; her daughter, Vonda Lou Bremer; three sisters and one brother.
The City of Borger will be holding an election on May 12 for one spot on the city council.
The city has had two candidates file for Place One on the Borger City Council, William Adams and Brandy Callahan. Leon DeWeese, who currently holds the spot, did not file for reelection.
Trips to the playoffs are becoming a normal thing for the Borger Lady Bulldogs soccer team. Despite being the smallest school in District 5-4A, the Lady Bulldogs are going to take part in the 4A girls soccer playoffs for the fifth year in a row when they take on the Brownwood Lady Lions on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Frenship High School in Wolforth.
CLARENDON-On Friday evening, the Clarendon Lady Broncos scored all of their 13 runs in the final four innings to get the 13-7 win over the West Texas Lady Comanches in District 6-1A play.
The Lady Comanches built a 3-0 lead by the third inning. But the tide of the game started to turn when Clarendon scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Comanches scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning, but it would not be enough to spark a late comeback.
The Lady Comanches go to 2-2 in district play and 10-8 overall. The team will next travel to Booker on Tuesday.
On Friday, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen split the first two games of a four game series with the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos 1-7 and 13-7 in WJCAC play in Roswell, N.M.
In game one, Broncosâ€™ pitcher Abdel Rivera shut down the Plainsmen bats for most of the game by allowing one run on two hits through seven innings.
The Broncos broke the game open in the second and third innings by scoring six runs.
C.E. â€śEdâ€ť Cole, 85, of Borger, passed away, Tuesday, March 28, 2012.
Clinie Edward Cole was born Saturday, September 25, 1926 in Tahlequah, OK to Orlando and Henrietta (Cupp) Cole. He was a supervisor and plant manager at Phillips Philblack plant. Mr. Cole also volunteered at Golden Plains Community Hospital for twenty years and was a volunteer for HutchCares. Ed Cole married Dortha Faye Morrison on April 1, 1963 at First Baptist Church in Borger, TX. Mr. Cole served his country in WWII and Korea as a member of the United States Army where he received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star.
After having the bulk of the week off due to testing, high school baseball and softball teams return to the field this weekend.
After run-ruling Dalhart on Saturday, the Borger Bulldogs will try to move to 2-0 in District 1-3A play when they host the Perryton Rangers on Saturday, beginning at noon at Huber Park.
The Rangers opened district play with a loss to Pampa last Saturday.
The Borger Lady Bulldogs softball team will try to get into the District 1-3A win column against the Perryton Rangerettes, beginning at noon on Saturday at Agnes Howe Park.
