DPS officials responded to another truck wreck Sunday afternoon.
On March 4, 2012, truck driver Kenneth Baker, 24, was traveling westbound in a 2000 white International truck that turned over on Sunday afternoon on Business Road 152 around 12 p.m., according to Department of Public Safety reports.
Baker was traveling at an unsafe speed when approaching a yield intersection and the truck went into a skid.
According to DPS reports, the driver applied his brakes, causing the truck and trailer that was hauling two steel pods full of cement to turn on its side facing northwest.
A Borger driver was involved in a wreck Monday morning.
On Monday, March 5, 2012, Kelli M. Harris, driver of a 2009 Toyota Yaris, was traveling south bound on FM 1559 (carbon black road) at 7:50 a.m.
Harris over corrected her vehicle, causing it to run off the road. According to DPS State Trooper Darrin Bridges, the car rolled more than twice and went through a barbed wire fence.
Harris was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital by Life Star for medical attention. She was wearing her seat belt. Harris was the only occupant present.
Nathan Lynn Chute, 28, of Katy, TX, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Jaimi and his son Bronx of the home; his parents Robyn and Amelia Chute and his brother Nicolas Chute of Canyon; his In-laws David and Anji Wood of Borger; his brother-in-law Josh Wood of Chicago, Ill., his grandparents Shirley Chute of Meredosia, Ill., Jose and Eva Martinez of Canyon and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Antonia Martinez of Canyon and his grandfather Marion Chute of Meredosia, Ill.
The Borger Fire Department is preparing for another severe wildland fire season, and wants local citizens to be prepared.
BFD Fire Marshal Jerry Langwell said that due to significant drought conditions in Hutchinson County and the entire state of Texas, the BFD, along with the Texas Forest Service and Firewise communities, are trying to prepare for the possibility of wildland fires.
âWe need your help in the community to be Firewise and to be prepared to âReady, Set, Go!ââ he said.

LAS VEGAS, N.M.-On Sunday, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen came away with a three game sweep over Luna Community College, 10-3, 13-9, 13-5.
In game one, Janelle Smith set the tone for the Lady Plainsmen by hitting a two-run home run in the first inning. In the sixth inning, Luna scored two runs to make it a 5-3 score. But the Lady Plainsmen responded by scoring five in the top of the seventh inning.
In game two and three the Lady Plainsmen continued to stay hot at the plate, while Cheyenne Ford and Ashley Abair led the team in the pitcherâs circle.
Over the weekend, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen baseball team opened WJCAC play taking on the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds.
The T-Birds are known for having solid pitching and that was evident in the series, as the Plainsmen were held to four runs over four games with the T-Birds winning the series three games to one.
On Saturday, the T-Bird used 15 hits and five Plainsmen errors to get the 12-1 win in the first game of the series.
The 2012 track and field season got underway at the Borger Relays at Bulldog Stadium. The Borger boys and girls teams had a good showing led by Tomaria Embers winning the triple jump and taking second place in the 400m.
On the boys side, the Borger 800m and 1600m relay teams won first place. Finishing in second place was Conner Killough in the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, Terrence Brown in the 400m and Jonathan Jeter in the 200m.
On Friday evening, the Borger Bulldogs improved their playoff chances by getting a 3-1 win over the Canyon Eagles in District 5-4A soccer action.
Francisco Ibarra scored two goals and Lane Newcomb scored the third goal for the Bulldogs in the win.
Coming up with assists were Jose Chavez, Christopher Coon, and George Sifuentes.
In girls soccer action, the Borger Lady Bulldogs lost to the Canyon Lady Eagles 0-2.
On Sunday the Borger Bowling Club will take part in the regional bowling tournament at Western Bowl in Amarillo beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Borger team will join Amarillo High, Caprock and Bushland competing against six teams from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area for a chance to qualify for the state tournament.
The Borger team earned a spot in the regional tournament by beating Randall in a tiebreaker match on Thursday evening, 9-6.
In the head-to-head individual series, Borger defeated Randall 3-2 with Carter Williams, Devan Witt, and Charles Aikens getting wins for Borger.
