Errors give Bushland 3-2 win over Borger

On Tuesday afternoon, two errors in the top of the seventh inning allowed the Bushland Falcons to leave Huber Park with the 3-2 win over the Borger Bulldogs in non-district action.
The game featured a great pitcher’s duel between Borger senior Chayse Tracy and Bushland’s Blaine Barnett who combined to give up just eight hits with both throwing all seven innings.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning, when two Bulldog errors set up Gerald Reyna for a two RBI single to give Bushland a 0-2 lead.

Lady Bulldogs top Lady Eagles, 13-3

The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles and the Borger Lady Bulldogs were locked in a close contest until the final three innings when Borger started to pull away for the 13-3 win in six innings. The Lady Bulldogs will begin District 1-3A play on Friday afternoon in Pampa beginning at 4:00 p.m., while the Lady Eagles will travel to take on Lockney on Saturday beginning at noon.

Lady Comanches drop district opener to Claude

On Monday afternoon, the Claude Lady Mustangs scored 11 runs in the fourth inning allowing the team to pull away for the 18-7 win over the West Texas High Lady Comanches in District 6-1A play.
The game went back and forth through the first three innings, with the Lady Comanches holding a 6-5 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Lady Comanches extended their lead to 7-5. But a big bottom of the fourth inning by Claude gave the Lady Mustangs a commanding 7-16 lead to set up the 10-run rule after adding two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Wolves get past Comanches, 15-14

On Monday evening, the West Texas High Comanches and the Dalhart Golden Wolves squared off in non-district action in Dalhart, with the Wolves pulling out a 15-14 win.
The Comanches took the early lead by scoring six runs in the first two innings. But West Texas would not keep the lead for long, as the Wolves racked up nine runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 6-9 lead.

FPC Lady Plainsmen softball program signs four players for 2012-13 season

While the 2012 season is in full swing, Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen Head Softball Coach Lucas Grider has been busy preparing for the future with the signing of four players for the 2012-13 season.
Two of the players signed by Grider come from the Houston area, while the other two players will come to Borger from Canada and England.

Bulldogs host Falcons in final non-district tune up

This afternoon, the Borger Bulldogs (2-8) will host the Bushland Falcons (7-1) in their final non-district contest beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Huber Park.
The Bulldogs enter Tuesday’s game snapping a seven-game losing streak on Friday by splitting their series with the Amarillo River Road Wildcats. But the split showed the Bulldogs are still trying to find the right working mix on the pitcher’s mound and in the field, after giving up 30 runs in the two games.

RET. SSGT James Ray Langley, Sr.

RET. SSGT James Ray Langley, Sr., died March 18, 2012.
He was born July 3, 1935, and did 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, including two tours to Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia, daughter Annetta, son James Ray Langley, Jr., and great-grandson Dominick.
Survivors include his granddaughter Lea Brown and husband SPC Eric Brown, and great-grandson Matthew Langley.

Wells Fargo makes donation to Borger Fire Department

Wells Fargo donated the collector’s edition pony for 2011 to the Borger Fire Department. Each year, Wells Fargo stores receive a large stuffed version of the pony introduced for that year’s promotion. As part of giving back to the community, the bank presented this year’s pony to the Borger Fire Department in hopes that it can offer it to a worthy family touched by tragedy.

Frank’s Floor Covering to be purchased by Witt Flooring

An Amarillo company is in the process of purchasing Frank’s Floor Covering.
Witt Flooring is planning to move into the location within the next month, according to the company’s general manager, Pat Callahan.
Callahan said it will be about a 30-day span until Witt Flooring officially takes over the building.
Witt Flooring Center will provide Borger with a wide choice of carpet, hardwood, laminate flooring, ceramic tile and natural stone products. The center will have more in-stock items as well as tools and materials for self installation, but they also offer full service installation.

Frank Phillips students establishing Holocaust Remembrance Day

On Monday afternoon, Frank Phillips College Anthropology Students made a presentation to the FPC Board of Regents to establish a Holocaust Remembrance Day for April 19th, 2012, in conjunction with the Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust from Sunday, April 15th, 2012 through Sunday, April 22nd, 2012, and accept the organization’s Holocaust Remembrance Proclamation.

The Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker in overtime 42-35. See weekend sports for full results.
