On Monday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents will hold its regularly scheduled February meeting. Items on the agenda the board will take action on include: Order and Notice for the General Election and Joint Election Order, State Employees Charitable Campaign, refinancing of 2001 bonds, and accepting of gifts and donations. Also during the meeting, the board will be provided information about the 2012 enrollment numbers and hear reports from the the college President, Vice-Presidents and Deans, and board members. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Election season is in full swing, and citizens will soon have the opportunity to hear from the candidates running for county office.
The Hutchinson County Republican Women are inviting the public to the Republican Candidates forum on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Dake’s Restaurant, 718 North Main, in Borger. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The candidates will have an opportunity to speak with a question/answer period to follow. A reception will be provided at 6:30 p.m. and the forum starts at 7 p.m.
On Friday afternoon, the Western Oklahoma State College Lady Pioneers made the trip from Altus, Okla., to take on the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen in a two game series.
Both games saw good efforts from both teams, but Western Oklahoma had a few more breaks go their way to take both games 6-3 and 8-2.

LEVELLAND-On Thursday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen lost their WJCAC basketball games against South Plains College in Levelland.

South Plains College has gone through the 2011-12 season undefeated and showed why they are considered the top JUCO team in the country on Thursday by jumping out to a 63-17 lead over the Plainsmen by halftime.
The Plainsmen looked better in the second half, but the Texans where able to hang on for the big win and improve their record to 25-0.
