On Wednesday morning, three Borger football players officially signed their letters of intent to play football at the collegiate level.
Dustin Clark signed to play for the University of North Texas in Denton, while Terrance Brown and Miles McKinney signed on to play for Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Sanford-Fritch Eagles jumped off to take the early lead and never gave it up. A lot of heart showed big for these boys, Tuesday night. This was a big win for the Eagles.
Senior Hunter Cunningham came back to lineup after a thumb injury. This addition seemed to boost the Eagles to a much needed win. First quarter had the slump shooting Lynx falling behind the Eagles 8-3 at quarter.
In the second quarter, sophomore Monty Field had big three pointer to spark the crowd and Eagles. Great put-backs by Junior Trey Henry left the Eagles still ahead at half 21-11.

Tonia was born on October 19, 1951, in Borger, Texas. She was the daughter of Howard Alvie Vanlandingham and Margie Ann Weaver.
She attended school in Phillips, Texas. She moved to California where she worked at Hughes Aircraft. There, she met and married Danny Allison. They moved to Texas to raise J.D. and be near family.
She was a hard working, loving, kind woman with a good sense of humor. She loved to dance, ride motorcycles and be around friends.
AMARILLO – Nolan Ernest “Scooter” Lanham, 58, died Jan. 28, 2012.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at New Life Church with Spike Malonado officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home.
Scooter was born in Borger on October 7, 1953 to John and Ernestine Lanham. He passed away on January 28, 2012 following a sudden stroke.
He was raised in Stinnett and Dumas and was a 1973 graduate of Dumas High School. He married Cynthia Murry on December 3, 1977 in Dumas.
Winifred A. Conner, 71, passed away Jan. 22, 2012, at Borger Healthcare Center.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Ronny Gandy officiating and Randy Lopez assisting.
Winifred was born April 27, 1940, in Corpus Christi, to B.N. And Juneau A. Noake. She lived in Borger for the past two years.
She lived in several states, including Oklahoma, over the course of her life and formed lifelong friendships everywhere she lived. She was a warm, outgoing, and caring person.
Several local officials responded to an incident regarding a Stinnett citizen Monday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m. on January 30, 2012, a call was made to Stinnett Police Department regarding a suicide attempt. Stinnett PD responded to the home of Troy Lassiter, 41, on Brown Street in Stinnett with intentions to call the man down and take action if needed.
Stinnett Chief of Police Marie Farbro said Lassiter called the police for help, stating he was going to kill himself with a gun. He was communicating with his stepfather on the phone.
One of Borger’s finest is doing his part each day to ensure that the students who walk through the halls of Borger High School are safe, law-abiding citizens.
Terry Don Webster, who is an officer for the Borger Police Department and the School Resource Officer for Borger High School, spoke about his work during the Rotary Club meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Webster was born and raised in Borger. Prior to the high school, he worked as a SRO at Borger Middle School for three years. He said he loves his work and enjoys being with the students.
The sentencing date for one of the defendants in the Fernandez drug case will take place earlier than originally reported.
The original sentencing date for Aaron Fernandez, 26, was set for Feb. 29, 2012 according to reports received yesterday by the BNH. The sentencing date for Fernandez is actually set for February 10, 2012, according to Kathy Culvin of the U.S. District Attorney’s Office of the Northern Division of Texas.
PAMPA-On Tuesday evening, the Borger Bulldogs started the second round of District 1-3A play in Pampa taking on longtime rivals the Pampa Harvesters. Borger defeated the Harvesters in overtime in the district opener, so the Bulldogs knew the Harvesters were going to come out ready to even the season series.
After trailing by 20 points with six minutes to go, the Bulldogs caught on fire late to pull to within five points with 2:30 on the clock.
