BPD investigating Taylor's robbery

The Borger Police Department is currently investigating an armed robbery that took place early Wednesday morning.
According to reports from police, the robbery happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cefco Taylor's Convenience Store, located at 1402 South Florida Street in Borger.
Police have said that a white male, whose identity is unknown, entered the store and pulled out a weapon before taking cash from the register. The amount taken is not known at this time.

FPC men, women record wins

The FPC Lady Plainsmen played at home for the first time this season looking for their second win of the year, taking on SWCID.
Play started with two quick field goals from freshman Shakirra Smith. Freshman Jacy Judd of Fritch drained a nice three pointer. Sophomore Akwar Obong is then fouled on her shot attempt and sinks both free throws. Judd adds two more, while sophomore Natasha Thomas has a nice offensive board for FPC. Freshman Mariah Jeffries has a nice defensive block and Smith steals it for a quick two.

Borger stats through week 10

Week 10 concluded the regular season for the Borger Bulldogs.
Two very impressive performances came from the Bulldog running backs, sophomore Kendrick Freeman and junior Dontrae Butler. Both of these outstanding players reached over 1,000 yards on the year, according to the final official stats. Freeman led with 1,014 and Butler was close behind with 1,001. Butler transferred from Tascosa this year, and did not play in the first two games of the year. They each have eight touchdowns on the year as well, and both average six yards per carry.

District 1-2A volleyball honors

Four Lady Eagles received All-District honors in district 1-2A and eight Lady Eagles received Academic All-District honors.
Mikala Setliff, a junior, made the 1st Team All-District. Christa White, also a junior, received 2nd Team All-District honors.
Receiving honorable mention in the district was Blakely Meek, a junior, and Tomi Ann Salas, the lone senior for Fritch.
Academic All-District honors went to Krissi Burgin, Christa White, Mikala Setliff, Blakely Meek, Courtney Ingersoll, Bailee King, Keely Wilson, and J’Lee Judd.

Mary Jane Vaught

Mary Jane Vaught, formerly of Borger, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, in Amarillo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. James Powell of Pampa officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Should Texas go solo?

A number of Texas citizens have decided the state should go solo and secede from the United States of America. In 1836, Texas broke away from Mexico and formed the Republic of Texas and was its own country.
In 1845, it asked to be annexed into the United States, and became the 28th state.

BHS Cheerleader earns a once-in-a-lifetime experience

Borger High School varsity cheerleader Brooke West will be one of more than 600 high school cheerleaders from across the U.S. who will be performing in the 86th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Borger ISD board approves donations

November 14, 2012

The Borger ISD board approved several donations to the district during its regular meeting Thursday.
Two donations were on behalf of Paul Belton Elementary School. The first was an $80 gift from Pizza Duo and the second was a gift of $597 from Paul Belton’s Parent Teacher Organization. The money from the PTO will be used to reimburse the purchase of three Smart Scopes.
Another donation was on behalf of Gateway Elementary, and was in the amount of $500 from the BEST PTO. The donation will be used to help replace the popcorn machine for the school.
