Early Tuesday morning a deer caused a lot of damage to a moving vehicle. According to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the Borger Police Department, PD received the call around 8 a.m. The car was a 2012 Chevy SUV. According to Griffin, the SUV driver, Don Clendening, 51, of Pampa, was traveling northbound on Florida when a deer crossed the road from east to west and struck the car’s windshield. There was a lot of damage to the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument is getting a new acting superintendent.
Deputy Regional Director Colin Campbell announced that Darren E. Bryant has been selected for a 120-day detail as the acting superintendent for the park. Bryant is the Chief of Facility Management at Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and will begin his new job on Oct. 7.
Bryant was born and raised in Carlsbad, N.M., where he now lives with his wife Christina and two children, Megan and Chase.

A resolution involving a potential event center in Borger has been approved by the Borger City Council.
The resolution, approved Tuesday at the council meeting, has certain specifications.
For a period of five years beginning on Oct. 1, 2012, and ending on Sept. 30, 2017, the City of Borger would agree to own, construct, maintain, and operate the proposed event center under the following conditions:

On Sunday, September 23rd, 2012 the team Santos Laguna from Borger brought home a championship by defeating the top two teams in the Amarillo Soccer League in the under ten league. The team showed great dedication and worked very hard to get this win. Making up the team is Allan Cardenas, Sebastian Flores, Jared Ramos, Bryan Fuentes, Jhovany Perez, Michael Baeza, Jarek Ramos, Carlos Beltran, Brandon Saucedo, Jacley Baeza, Kaycee Clawson, and Julian Tarango (who scored the winning goal in the championship). Coaching the team is Juan Ramos and Lorenzo Flores.

Congressional representative Four Price will make two stops in Hutchinson County this Thursday.
The incumbent representative will be stopping at the Fritch City Annex at 9 a.m. Business owners and the public are welcome to attend.
Price's second stop will be at the meeting of the Hutchinson County Republican Women. It will be held at the County Republican headquarters at 1313West Wilson next to Sally's Beauty Supply starting at 12 p.m.
The public is invited to join the HCRW as they welcome Price to talk about matters of interest to all the county.

Due to bad weather and the county burn ban restriction, during the West Texas High School homecoming celebration the “igniting the spirit of the WT” was canceled. PSPCISD decided to reschedule this big event for Thursday.
This is also a celebration for PSPCISD for winning its homecoming game against White Deer (36- 6). The igniting will be held at the north parking lot by the Fieldhouse Gym from 8:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. (Time determined by darkness).
Also this week the West Texas Elementary is hosting a Bullying Awareness 5K Run/Walk.

If you have ever thought about becoming a member of the Hutchinson County 4-H, there is a chance coming up next week to do just that!
The Hutchinson County 4-H council will host a 4-H Member Enrollment Night on Oct. 9, 2012. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Borger ISD Administration Building Auditorium, located at 200 East Ninth in Borger.
County extension agent Megan Parr said at this event, students will be able to enroll as new 4-H members online. The students will also have an opportunity to participate in several leadership skill building games.

Ronald Ray Gould, 69 of Richmond, Texas, died Sept. 27, 2012, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 2, 2012, at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Larry Brock, pastor of Sanford Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jimmy Strasia, 83, of Fritch, died Saturday Sept. 29, 2012, in Amarillo, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
