Fritch, TX - Deputy Regional Director Colin Campbell has announced that Darren E. Bryant has been selected for a 120-day detail as the acting superintendent of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument in Fritch, Texas.
Bryant is currently the Chief of Facility Management at Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and will report to his new assignment on October 7.
â€śWe are delighted to have Darren come to Lake Meredith,â€ť said Rose Pollard, Acting Superintendent of Lake Meredith NRA and Alibates Flint Quarries NM.
Crime Stoppers and the Borger Police Department are seeking assistance in identifying two female subjects wanted for questioning in reference to the use of counterfeit coupons at a local supermarket in Borger.
On Thursday August 29th, 2012, two unidentified females purchased groceries at the United Supermarket in Borger. During their purchase, the two unidentified females used counterfeit coupons to obtain $887.92 worth of merchandise.
While inside the store one of the female subjects used a motorized cart.
Jill Diane Miller, 56, of Borger died Saturday, October 6, 2012. A memorial service will be held, by the family, at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2012, at the Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Jill was born to Bill Anderson and Wanda (Collins) Anderson on December 26, 1955 in Seguine, Texas. She was a longtime Borger resident. Jill loved fishing, reading and crocheting.
Jane Fisher, 67, of Austin, formerly of Borger, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
Graveside services will be at Westlawn Memorial Park on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 11:00am. Burial will be under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
She will lie in state at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home, Sunday, October 14, 2012.
Jane is a 1963 graduate of Borger High School.
Jane married her high school sweetheart, Don Fisher, in 1964.
Jane lived most of her adult life in Austin, TX, where she raised two children.
Jane retired from LCRA after many years of service.
On October 9th, a Hutchinson County Jury, of eight men and four women convicted Steven Dewayne Ingram, age 29 of Borger, for Possession of Methamphetamine, less than one gram.
The offence occurred on November 19th, 2010 in Borger.
Ingram was originally granted a Court appointed attorney to represent him on the charges but he denied that assistance and told the Court he would represent himself.
The Sanford-Fritch Eagles were seeking a little revenge on Friday night when Canadian rolled into town, and they did not disappoint. The Eagles were determined and pulled out a thrilling one-point win in a game that literally went down to the last second.
Ryan Blakely broke free for a 50 yard run for the first Eagle score. Colton Valle's extra point was good. Valle then hauled in a 52 yard pass from Blakely for the next score and his kick was true. The Eagles found themselves up 14-0 after the first quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs played in Dalhart on Friday night in an important district contest. The Lady Dogs swept the Lady Wolves when they played in Borger to start district play. That has proved to be Dalhart's only loss, as they are tied with River Road atop the district standings. This time, however, it would be the other way around, and Dalhart swept Borger in three sets: 25-13, 25-18, 25-22.
Ada V. Jackson, 93, of Borger, passed away, Monday, October 8, 2012.
Ada Victoria (Prickett) Jackson was born Monday, November 11, 1918 in New Douglas, IL to William and Rose Geneva (Oâ€™Hara) Prickett. She married Leon Harris Jackson on July 6, 1938 in New Douglas.
Mrs. Jackson was Past Worthy Matron Of Borger Chapter #811 and was Deputy Grand Matron District 2, Section 1 Grand Chapter Of Texas, Order of The Eastern Star.
Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Harris Jackson; and her son, Wayne Harris Jackson.
Winnie Alice Sibley was born June 6, 1915 in Grand, Oklahoma in northern Roger Mills County to Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (Younger) Brown. She passed away October 9, 2012 at Pampa, Texas at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 3 days.
